Runners?

Any runners here, I would like to know what your macro breakdown is. Generally, runners eat about 60%-70% carbs with 15% protein, but I'm wondering if I should change the ratios due to weightlifting.

Right now I'm on a 70-15-15 diet. Thoughts??

Personally, I have never been one to eat more carbs due to my running. Right now I am training for a half and doing a 40/40/20 diet. However, I am also can't seem to lose any bf w/ this and so I'll probably switch it up some to see if I can get some loss. I may be totally wrong, but I'm going to try more protein and back off the carbs and fat just a bit. This is ONLY my attempt at trying something different for myself.

Carbs are supposed to give you the energy for the long runs, but that's never been a problem for me and so I'm more concerned w/ muscle loss in my long runs.

Just my opinion... I'm no expert by any means at all... I think we all have to figure out what works best for each of us. There doesn't seem to be any magical numbers or plans that work for all.

Good luck to you!

Yeah... I'm training for a full right now and I tend to NEED that energy for my long runs . I'm not a person with natural energy reserves at ALL.

I've been considering cutting my carbs to 60% (I know, that's sill a lot of carbs for weightlifters) and increase the protein and just see if my training doesn't suffer. I'm still 3 1/2 months out from my marathon, so if it doesn't work out I can just go back I guess.

I guess I'm just wondering what the breakdown is for other runners to kind of compare and contrast what I'm doing, maybe try something a little different.

it changes for me depending on my time of season and what training im doing and all that, but in the middle of my competitive season it can be up to 80-85% or as low at 40-50% just before my pre season part of the year starts

oh wow, i just realized this is the female bodybuilding section, i just saw it in my live bookmark thing in mozilla ff
