oatmeal & acidy stomach
Hi,
I LOVE oatmeal but notice that whenever I eat it I feel bloated and get a really acidy stomach. Tried eating it plain and same thing happens. Anyone ever get this or know what it would be?
I'm thinking of trying protein pancakes recipe I saw in another thread but it has oatmeal in it.
Oh, almost forgot. I don't eat cereal very often but had corn flakes this morning and same thing happened.
Thanks for any advice.
Dea

You might want to try soy milk for cereal and oatmeal, avoid other dairy products, as well as cheese flavored chips (Doritos). Taking a tums or Axid before/after offending foods should help if you simply can't avoid them. I can tell you with milk, the symptoms usually get worse with age. I ignored my milk issues for decades. Finally had to give up all forms of milk at 45.

I made an oatmeal/porridge recipe the other day and it did the same thing to me... I don't have any milk intolerences though. But I got terrible heartburn after eating just that. I normally eat eggs for breakfast, and I thought it was just the lack of protien. I don't get the heartburn when I make the eggwhite/ oatmeal/protien pancakes though, so it's not the oatmeal doing it to me.
BTW- Miracle cure for heartburn... Raw Almonds. I promise. It works.

Sounds like a problem with gluten or milk. Have you noticed this with breads or other milk products?

Milk - definitely
Hmmm... Never thought about it. I don't really drink milk. Always gave me an acid stomach starting back to when I was a kid so I avoid it. Same with cheese.
Same with chips/doritos (unfortunately it doesn't stop me from eating those - as you can tell from my profile). I assume that's from just the icky grease though.

Reason: I can rationalize the chips

I have things to try - thanks.
DeannaOnlyne - I'll give the almonds a try and I think I'll try the protein pancakes. I haven't tried oatmeal with protein so maybe the combo will work better for me. My actual first name is also Deanna (without the A capitalized)
Freebirdmac - I may try something for the milk issue just to see if it works for me. I'll probably just avoid dairy as much as possible. How does soy milk taste? I've been afraid to try anything soy since I tasted my daughter's soy formula when she was an infant. NASTY stuff!!
Thanks for the replies!

I don't really spell my name with a capital A either... I think the day I put my name in I'd been frustrated with people getting my name wrong... It's always either Diana or Deena, so I thought I'd start here by getting it right... even though it's all cyberspace! lol Kind of silly, but oh well. Good luck with the tummy troubles.

GOAT MILK is much easier to digest than soy milk. It is very healing to the entire digestive system. (This is from Ayurvedic medicine, which I have studied.)
