official cutters thread (no emo)

so i thought it would be a good idea to make a thread for people cutting. just a place to post new recipes, tell about your workout ask for advice. anything related to cutting.

anyway did shoulders today. did 5x5 on shoulder press. strenghth was the same. on hang cleans i actually gained strenght. did 5x5. and on upright rows did 3 sets of 8, strenght stayed the same. then i did 2 sets of bb curls and three sets of tri pushdowns, all with eight reps. did some jump rope before, throughout and after workout. plus a few sprints after workout.

this is a good idea…I'm cutting to 20-25%. Or less, depending on how fast I lose…
My fav shake recipe:
2scoops ON whey
2cups frozen berries
1cup high protein low fat yogurt (nancy's, if you care)
6-10oz milk

I think it tastes best with strawberries and 8oz milk, but I had one with bluberries and 10oz and it was good

It runs about 60g protein and around 600 cal

Good for when you need protein, but forgot to eat a tuna sandwich earlier in the day…

that shake looks like it would be good post workout. if your looking for a good shake for a meal replacement i like this one.

one scoop on whey
8 ounces skim milk
one frozen banana
1/2 cup of oats
2 tbs of pb

tastes great and has a great mix of protein, complex carbs and healthy fats.

I just started on a small cut for summer also. Not really changing much but slightly reduced calorie intake from 3800 to 3300 and added alot of cardio.

I don't want to lose any muscle, so i'm focusing more on losing fat through cardio and not calories.

Edit: Tuna and Chicken tenderloins ftw. Excellent cutting food.

ok, I'm wondering…I'm using fitday and putting in my food and exercise and stuff. and when I go cal consumed minus the cal burned, I want -500, so if I workout or run that day I eat more. If I do that and get, say, a 1000 cal deficit, will I keep fat because my body's metabolism is shutting down or what? I usually get around 22-2300 cal a day

That's a really good one I use it to.

I'm thinking about looking into this smoothie machine that makes smoothie without all the cream. It's confusing to explain but instead of ice cream and syrup and all the stuff in those "health" smoothie places, you just put the fruit in and it makes it into a smoothie without all the bad stuff.

20-25 miles a week or at one time? and is it on a stationary bike or a real bike outside? a real bike outside would be awsome. my cardio as of right now is jump rope. i incoporate it into my lifting cuz i work for days a week and go to school full time so it is hard to do cardio seperate from lifting. eventually i'll move to hiit, well i gues thats what you would call it. i use to do this a lot but not in good enough shape anymore. i go around my block which is just under a mile but has a lot of hills. i start out jogging then i'll sprint from one mail box to the next then i'll jog to the next then sprint to the next and so on untell i make it all the way around. it is pretty killer.

I don't exactly understand what you're saying but it kinda relates to a question that i've had for awhile.

So this is a question for everyone else:

I used The Daily Plate to track my food and it says i need 2800 to maintain my weight, if I eat 1800 calories and it then says I can eat "1000 more calories". If i go and workout and I enter my activities and I burn 700 calories, it now tells me I can eat "1700 more calories" today. So do you guys follow this? As in losing or gaining weight by calories entirely, or do you disreguard the calories burned by working out?

When you say you eat say 3000 calories. Is that your TOTAL calories or your NET calories?

yeah, my maintaining weight is 2100

so if I burn 900 cal in a day, can I eat 2500? that would be a net loss of 500 cal

if you don't take into account the burning of cal with exercise, then I would be 400 cal over, which would mean I am technically bulking…

I think that displays my question more thoroughly…

sounds awsome. would be better than jogging. sounds like you have a nice bike also. it wouldn't feel so like so much of a chore but just going for a nice bike ride. i use to love riding bike when i was a kid.

I like riding my bike as well, too bad the weather here sucks so bad all the time.

kinda off topic, but when you guys jog, how fast do you go and for how long? I'm not that great at running, but I can do around 15-20 min at 5mph…is that about as fast as you guys go? I'm talking about on a treadmill, o/c…

thanks

kay for you guys asking about calories here's the deal. you want to burn 500 more calories then you consume. if you burn 3,000 calories a day then you should eat a total of 2,500 calories. and remeber to keep the protein high.

yea man its a nice bike its not hard to maintain just lube the chain up every so often..some of my buds joke and give me a hard time for doing it but its great man..yea i wanted this bike forever and i am out of school and work full time til i leave for basic training..i work anywhere from five to six days a week and i get paid pretty..good..i am not bragging or anything..i have a pretty easy job i am a warehouse manager for a furniture store so i usually take my bike with me to work and when i get off work i go for a ride..but like its not tha expensive to get into..u could find a good bike on the net for around 250 bucks..its not that cheap but its a reasonable price for a decent bike to get started on

not bad but my speed varies cuz when i run its outside so its up and down hills..u could prob burn more calories that way..i am not hating or anything but running on a treadmill is basicall picking ur legs up and putting them down..when running outside u are required to move ur body but if the weather sucks then treadmill is fine man i just like the scenery outside

idk how fast i run now, my treadmill is broke and i'm outa the gym for a little while. but i use to run at 5 mph's for 30-45 minutes. doubt i could do that now though. but i like to vary the speed, makes it go by quiker. like i would go at 3 mph untell i burned 10 calories and then go on 7 (as fast as my treadmill woud go) untell i burned 20 calories. woud repeat untell i burned 300 calories. took me about 25 minutes.

and this is my activity thing…also, I don't count the lifestyle thing, I put it at sedentary (I lift 4-7 times a week), but it's because I did a body comp test, and it said that my maintaining calorie number was around 2100, so I add 2136 to my activities, and I figure I can eat 500 less than that…

dude honestly your diet doesn't look that good. could use some major improvement. you'll have to work out the portions but this seems better.
meal 1. scrambled eggs (half whole half whites), oatmeal, fruit, skim milk.
meal 2. almonds, protein shake
meal 3. brown rice, chicken, veggies
meal 4. brown rice, ground turkey, veggies
meal 5. skim milk, whey, fruit
meal 6. lean ground beef, sweet potato, veggies

just my 2 cents.

Started cutting a few weeks back, i'm taking it slow so I can retain as much muscle as possible. Gonna hopefully cut to around 165 at under 10% bf. I can't wait to get this cut over with so I can start putting on mass again.

So I need to gain about 5 pounds then Im probably going to start cutting, Im wondering other than not over doing it with calorie deficit and making sure I get plenty of protein what should I keep in mind to avoid any muscle loss.
