Prone Rear delt DB Row VS Bent Over Lateral Raise
i'll do the standing lateral raise for the lateral head...but for rear delts, I prefer the rowing movement (perpendicular to the body to emphasize the delts).
what do you guys think? Think theres any difference in development or weight moved? I try match the DB's i use for all the heads to keep me balanced.

Yes, you can do the rear delt rows lying down or standing up, like a bentover row to your upper chest. The range of motion on both of those exercises feels more comfortable to me than the bentover lateral raises.

you can do seated cable rows, but you'd pull into your face with elbows high, rather than stomach. however, you gotta mix it up. try doing bent over lat raises or if that feels awkward, do them on an incline bench, face down.

The lateral raise spreads the work across the upper back and the rear delt row targets the rear delt more specifically.

I think a prone, chest-supported rear delt row is much safer for the shoulder girdle than the rear delt flye ...it's also much closer to how you would move in a day-to-day task...no one uses leverage against themselves in normal activities...if you do use the flye, keep it light and high rep.

whats a good weight for the rear delt dumbell row? like if 25s to 30s is pretty strong on the standing lateral raise, whats a good weight for rear delts to work towards?
im using like 17.5s but i think could easily go 22.5s (im keeping it at 17.5 to match my front raise...want to keep everything in proportion)

I usually end up at 35s for bent over laterals. I do them the real old school way where you squat all the way down and bend at the waist. I hate resting my head on a bench or anything like that. It's hard not to use some body english for these, but as long as you keep squeezing the rear delt you'll be ok.
I do rear delts at the end of both back and shoulder day. Just one exercise each day for four or five sets. This has brought my rear delts up a lot, and my made shoulders look much bigger.

personally, i do very strict rear lateral raises and it forces me to go very light. I think im going to try a mix between the exercise in the link above and my laterals. Maybe kind of come out wider as I'm rowing to full contraction. Also, I'm gonna try turning the DBs parallel w/ my body. It might be a good idea to let the negative portion of the movement appear much closer to a lateral since we have so much more power when lowering weights.

oh i see! actually that gives me good info....so if im DB delt rowing 20s to 25s id only be rear raisin like 15
...it seems u thought i meant i was raising 20s....no im only rowing 20s lol
i swear.....im more and more startin to see just how weak i am....but its odd because i dont have bad measurements at all, so then i wonder how big i could be if i was actually strong!...im definatly bigger than what ur avg brad pitt wannabe ambercrom-mtv model look lol. i try to lift heavy, i dont **** around with drop sets and supersets...and still im just avg size, below avg strength.... /end rant lol
