Hi I'm going to start following 5x5 three times a week and incorporate an events day as well. I just wondered what type of cardio will be sufficient enough for a strong man? Would event training itself be enough or maybe sprints etc? Any link, feed back appreciated.
Thanks.

Here's a list of some of the HIIT drills we perform:
1) Walking up the Stairmill with a 20-100lb weight vest on
2) Battling Ropes (Hurricane Ingrid)
3) Sled Dragging (forwards, backwards and sideways)
4) Prowler Pushing
5) 100-200lb Sandbag lift and carries
6) 40-100lb Dball medicine ball throws
7) Tug-o-War (traditional or with one person trying to walk away with the rope tied around their weight belt.)
8) Trap Bar lift and carry

I like hitting a heavy bag as hard and fast as I can for 2-3 minutes with a 2-3 minute break between for 4 or 5 sets. Sometimes I'll do sets of 25 round kicks on each side AS HARD AS POSSIBLE. It doesn't sound like much but if you are hitting as hard as you possibly can every hit you'll be so out of breathe after 2 minutes that you just about pass out.
