CKD Diet Weekend Carb Up
I've been doing a lot of reading regarding the CKD. The posts are very
informative and well detailed. My diet is dialed in with the carb-up fast approaching this weekend. What does a typical Friday night and Saturday look like for you guys doing the CKD? Some say to eat whatever you want, but I don't want to get kicked out of ketosis. I'm just looking for a little guidance on what to eat Friday night and Saturday. Could you guys post what your meal routines. Thanks in advance.

I tend to make carb up day a cheat day, so anything goes. This also cuts any cravings, gives you a treat at the end of the week and spikes the metabolism.
This has worked well for me, others prefer to carb up 'cleanly'. I however follow the old adage, you can't get fat in one day.

How long does it take you to get back into ketosis after that?

I don't use keto stix, but you get to know the signs. Usually pretty much by the end of the next day. I start peeing more and it starts to smell, stuff like that. By day two I am feeling all the energy come back. One interesting thing I have noticed on keto is that I tend to workout earlier in the day as I am more raring to go than on a carb diet.
Of course I'm on week 7, so my body is more into it. First week took about 4 days and then about 3 after first carb up.

After my first carb-up, I started on Sat night and went until Sunday night, and I was back in Keto Tuesday morning. It was also Easter and because my in laws are polish, I was forced to drink vodka all day on sunday as well. I think it comes down to being different for all people, but I would say anywhere from 2-4 days.

Sounds like I don't need to monitor my meals too much during the carb-up. Thanks for the input.

keeping it "clean" would most likely produce better results in a faster time, but I like to let loose on the weekend and enjoy myself. It might make me slower to get to where I want to be, but at least I am living my life.

Yeah, I agree. Sometimes you have to let loose. For the most part, I plan to eat pretty clean on the weekend. At least in the beginning.

If you're dedicated and serious about these goals, then the weekend isn't an excuse to slack. Getting cut is about hard work baby, 24/7.
Think about whether having that pizza/ice cream is worth busting your ass an extra day, or would you rather just have oatmeal and get lean and mean in shorter time?

And there is the other shoulder telling you to keep it clean. I don't know which one you are going to pick, but I can tell you she knows about a million times better than I do.

Jaim91 -- So what kinds of meals should I be eating for the carb-up? I'm sure oatmeal, brown rice, sweet potato, etc. But in combination with what? I guess I'm not sure on exactly how much fat, carbs, pro, etc. I want to do it right.

Most Ketoers switch their macros. 65/30/5 - Carbs/Protein/Fat. Keep your calories at your maintenance/cut level.

Ratios = 60% carb/30protein/5 fat
Oatmeal + cinamon + Splenda
OR
Oatmeal pancakes
OR
Cottage cheese
OR
Sweet potatoe french friends
OR
Sweet potatoe pancakes
There are sooo many things you could do with clean carb up foods!

the longer you've been on keto, the faster you transfer back.

usually start with high-GI foods and move to lower-GI foods as a rule of thumb. if ur going to "cheat" do it early on and keep to a minimum.

Do you do the whole weekend? I'm considering slacking of Saturday and Sunday, did this the other week and it didn't seem to slow me down.

You can only loose so much fat in a week without muscle and if you're hitting that then let go a little.

But why not try and take it as far as it can go?

Jaim, I admire your determination... if it wasn't for making the carb up a cheat, I would never be able to last on this cut...
So I eat pizza. The benefit of keto is that I still lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks, after losing all my water weight previously from other diets.
