The Road to Leadville & Deathvalley!!

I have three major goals by the end of this summer.

1.Leadville 100 (mountain bike race) August 9
2.Deathvalley (run 130 to 150 miles) August 30
3.Deatvalley Cycling trip (300 miles) Sept. 28

I have 4 months till Leadville 100.This is my first time riding in it and I want to place decently. I also want to set a new personl distant run for me that means breaking the 120 mile marker. The last cycling trip is for fun to end the summer on high note. It's a group trip.

To improve my riding and running this summer I would like to bring my weight down by about 30 pounds while attempting to maintain if not add some strength. This want be easy because to do this I need to not only lose body fat but some muscle weight to.I've been stuck in platue for months now and I really need to break it.

Here's my plan:
1. As close to a 100% clean diet as I can possiably get.Lots of fruit veggies and tons of protien.
2.I want to change my workouts weekly from high reps to moderate weight to low reps high weight.
3. I'm going to vary my running and cycling daily.Sprints one day hills the next ect.
4.I really don't plan on any rest days unless absolutely nessacry.I plan to use active recovery.

I really want to limit the amount of muscle I lose to the bare min. I need to bring my weight down but I still need to maintain strength.Starting weight is 130. I would like to drop to 100.

I'm going to post my daily workouts along with diet break down and estimated cal exp. and ofcoarse how I'm feeling. With only 4 months to go I really cann't afford to do things wrong. So any advice to better help me reach my goals would great. Ofcoarse through this all I would like to build my endurance and speed.

Hi Princess,

Looks like a rough start! I hate those <5 hour sleep days.

So, you ride & run? Do you swim?

Well unless the race is indoors you have to prepare for everything so biking in the rain will help you!

PM carry over here.

Ok I don't have to repeat myself.Ya'll know I went on my mountain biking trip with alot of riding came home went right back to working out so I've been very sore and tired and maybe a little moody.Yeah about 6 today would be one of those moments when I was just down tired, miserable and sore not wanting to do anything. So someone that's suppose to support and tries says, What's wrong and ofcarse I go into whiney mode...spill it all and say you know I'm worried I cann't do this what if I fail I'm already so sore and tired...and do you know what he said!! Just quit, why do you want to do this if it's so hard, you don't need to do this!!! That's not support!! People I know it's gonna be hard I know sometimes I'm gonna want to quit but that's when you need the support the most not when things are going good!! This is why I complain to you guys! Cause noone hear ever says quit! Ya'll always say try harder, stick out a little longer do your best but no one ever says quit.......

Yes and you know that! Most people going through this wouldnt have a clue what to do. You already have that knowledge so you can adjust!

I've been stuck at the same weight for a log time now 123 to 130 that I'm afraid of eating the wrong foods....I only have a few months I need to lose the weight...I know under eating is bad cause I want to hold on to muscle but between the fear of messing up and not having alot of time...I'm having issues! LOL

ok I've been worried about not making the cut in Leadville the stress the stress!!!! AHHH

LOL, someone reminded me of this story today: Last summer when I was running across TX, (120 total miles) at about mile 80 or 90 somewhere around there I made in a road and I looked and all I could see was the longestest streatch of road I think I have ever seen in my life! I had come this far and been running for more then a day, I was hot, tired, dehydrated my feet had more ducttape on them then skin, I had fallen more then once and my kneees were scraped up, I had rubbed on spot on one arm so bad between all the sweat and it bleeding I was literally dripping blood and sweat on the street I was on the verge of vomiting every five minutes. I stopped right there in the middle of the road dropped to my knees and began crying. Dan my support guy and best friend gets out of the car and stands there with his hand out to help me up and I ignore him and just keep crying...I cann't do it,I cann't fininsh this, take me home I quit......finnally he just picks me up and sits me on the back of the car goes around reaches in and graps a beer hands it over to me and lights up smoke and say,"OK" we sit there a few minutes I'm smokin and drinkin the beer (best freakin beer I ever drank..but it made me puke a little while later well worth it though) finally he unzips his pants and just takes it out right there and says,"Ok, but you have to suck my **** first." I laughed so hard I nearly fell off the car! Then I smacked him for being a perv! First and foremost we hadn't showered in almost 48 hours and we were in extereme heat, finally he puts it away and shoves me off the car and says,"Well then ya better make it to the finish line cause I'm leavin your ass here!" and he gets in the car and starts to drive off...yeah I made it the end...I don't what the morale of that is but there's the story.

LOL,he needs to get his ass down here and help! The lack of sleep is really starting to catch up to me..I still only got 4 hours last night. It shows in my training and my diet....hence the cookies last night not to mentions I ate nachos at like 2am this morning...not alot but some....these are choices made for no reason other then being tired...looking for quick energy and just not putting the effort in getting up and finding something healthy...

It's hard sometimes here on campus to eat healthy..we have food everyone it's cheap easy convient....but not healthy...you have to search the healthy choices....and when I'm tired I'm not as likely to do that....

Well my plan for today is to focus on just getting caught on studies, chores, laundry LOL...much needed...focus on my diet today healthy choices all day.....and while I plan to get some exercise I'm not planning on anything diffacult...not point in risking injury b/c i'm tired and then SLEEP!!
Comeback strong tomorrow!! That's the plan...
