magnesium and potassium aspartine vs Bananas

Ok as we all know. best source for potassium as far as food are bananas.

now m&pa only has 3% of your daily values needed for potassium.

each banana has i believe around 30%.

is the potassium supplement just crap?

Actually bananas aren't the best source of potassium.

BTW, the RDA for potassium for someone taking in 2,000 calories is 3500mg, if i can remember correctly, so that is going to be a whole lot of bananas.

Potassium supplements would be ideal for a bodybuilder during contest prep that is unable to eat fruit and need to bump their potassium intake to reduce cramping. Outside of that I'd always go whole food over supplemental vitamins due to the macro and micronutrient density in whole foods.

That's not quite true. There may be a few synthetic vits that are poorly absorb but this is not the case for the majority. Of course when eating a banana you get quite a few more nutrients than potassium. So food is almsot always going to be a better option if you can eat enough of it.
Yes, there is indeed a deeper component to it all.

It depends on the bioavailability of the potassium from whatever food you want to get. I read recently (can't remember which article) that bananas aren't as bioavailable as other sources of potassium. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
