How does training affect your muscle gains?
We all know that if you're in Muay thai (for example) the classes are a hard cardiovascular workout. However, i've felt like my legs/shoulders have gotten a little extra mass from training as opposed to losing muscle from all the cardio.
Does any one else find this as well? Does your training affect your gains, or have you actually noticed a little more definition or even mass from it?

I have had no mass either, but i was pretty big already in my shoulders. I think it is the fact that Thai is now just aerobic but anaerobic as well.

Before i get another slew of posts that say "eat" or "squat". I know, i know........
I'm just curious if combat sports in general put on any lean muscle?(Even if it's a tiny amount) I was looking through some MMA camps sites and a lot of them list that you will gain lean muscle mass through training, and that perked my interest.

I've lost about 20lbs since I started training in muay thai and BJJ (I started around 175lbs).

You will. Especially if you are very out of shape because there is nowhere to go but up, ya know?
For someone like me, I've found that it hasn't necessarily hurt or helped my mass or definition because I continually lift. If anything, I'd say it keeps me toned (as if weightlifting didn't already do that, but whatever) and also the HIIT style cardio of training keeps me defined.

I sip on Xtend during training to help keep muscle. Don't think I've seen any gains in muscle but I'm confident Im preserving more than if I didn't have BCAA's in my system.
