HR rep will be glad that Im no drama queen...
I have a sense of humour... but I dont think I should have been added as a recipient on this one! LMAO
I just received an email at work...It was sent to a few of us in the office and is from our office manager... It was meant as amusing and funny. meh
Its a Powerpoint slider show titled ''7 reasons to avoid the gym'' and inside are the pictures of 7 female bodybuilders...And Im not talking about them photoshopped female heads on male bodies... Simply female bodybuilders posing, some with a little offseason fluff!
NICE going there Mrs. (out of shape) office manager !!!
Ok, end of rant...resume regular programing

I'd email the office manager back with one of your picts and ask why you were being targeted like this. Not that you were, but it should get his/her attention in a big way! Once he/she is squirming then you can smile and say you were just answering a joke with a joke But that does get a point across.

LMAO, trust me I thought about it! lololol I just dont wanna sound overly touchy or sensitive... Im pretty vocal around here but Ive only been here 2 months so.... Imma STFU about it lolol
Odd thing is, she has seen some of my pics (I have before and after shots everywhere for motivation, including in my office) and is constantly begging for advice, tips (which of course, she will never follow but whatever)... She's seen prep pics (i.e: striated and veiny ) etc. and knows of my love for bodybuilding.
I simply think that to her, this is gross and since FBBers are all but mainstream, most here probably had the same 'ewwwwwww'' reaction.

Sounds like she did it w/the intention of getting a rise out of you. I think not responding to it is the best thing.
I am all for having fun too, but there is a time and a place for everything...an office manager mass emailing that to co-workers is not professional IMO.

I doubt it was simply to get me going, as she sent it to many of the chics on the admin team... I dont think she is mean spirited by any means, but I doubt she would have sent such an email with black people, obese folks, ugly children, etc. as a topic!
Im thinking of take 7 pictures of her and making my very own slider show titled ''7 reasons TO GO to the gym'' LMAO

You beat me to it!
She's having a little fun... it goes both ways.
You can give it back with a little office humor of your own.
"Hey<her name>, you got something stuck to your butt.(*she looks back)
Oh, geeze, sorry... that IS your butt. Guess you'll want a few tips to help with that."
*then you laugh like there's no tomorrow... and compliment her on the little BB memo/joke...
LOL!

That's what I thought.
Imagine if there was someone that was morbidly obese, and she sent a picture around the office of someone like that with a phrase "7 reasons to avoid the buffet line". I think this is the same thing.

Yeah, she didn't call you out specifically in the email, but the above would definitely be calling her out.
Since she is well aware of your bodybuilding proclivities, this makes her email all the more insensitive. How could she not know that she would be making fun of you. It's definitely inappropriate behavior for a manager.

This may be insensitive, but thank you OP for seeing some humor in it. I am glad to see that some people, even when they feel something is wrong, do not overreact.
[rant]
I am sick of all the panty-waisted "oh-my-God-they-offended-me-so-I-must-sue-or-they-must-be-fired" type of crap that seems to be so prevalent in the corporate environment now. More people need to simply "man up" and learn to deal with humor.
[/rant]
That said, she is a weenie, but aren't all people in management?

Why? what? uh?? No need to get them panties in a bunch!!
I could have said asian, muslim, fishermen, catholic, race car drivers .... I named a visible minority and various other common occurences... Im simply saying that I do not think that she would have deemed it proper to make jokes about such groups, while it was ok to bash on female bodybuilders!!
Sorry if I offended anyone, it was truly not my intention! SLight overreaction here perhaps?

I don't think it was your intention to offend. You were merely listing sub groups not commonality.
You could have said short, big-mouthed, Italian from Jersey and you would have described but not offended me.

Since you say she's asked for advice, but then sent that e-mail, my gut says "Defensive!" in big bold letters.
I have out-of-shape male friends who will say good things about my build, then slam bodybuilders in the next breath. Or they will make "jokes" about me, my muscles, and my eating habits, while at the same time try to explain why they "can't" lose weight, workout, etc.
There is a lot of "If I can't do it I have to slam it" out there. CrazyEnough, I think the less you say the better. Just be the healthiest woman in the office with the best body. That will speak volumes.

LOL Panties in a bunch
Hmm maybe a slight over reaction on my part, but I am not too sure if it is. I know if I would have seen Puerto Rican, on that list THEN you would have heard some **** from me that is for sure.

I call this emotional gravity. Since it's much easier to pull people down, people do this, instead of using all their energy to rise up to greater heights.

My bad, when I recharge I will rep you again, it's just that I am from the Bronx born and raise with black people and when I see **** like that I guess it rubs me the wrong way, maybe I was out of line, so if I was I apologize maybe I read into it too much.

Tell her you just got a call from corporate IT, HQ, where ever the top place is and they wanted to ask questions about inappropriate emails. They asked specifically about one containing pictures of female bodybuilders. Tell her you played it off but she might want to look into it as they seemed very interested in this type of communications going on during company hours. End it by saying, "they kept asking me if I was offended by the email."
Don't let her stew on it too long as she might start making those phone calls but it will definitely get her attention. Then you can let her off the hook by saying, "Nah, I'm just kidding. I thought the email was pretty funny, thanks for sharing it with me." Then, walk away......

testing...
I think the race car drivers is a good analogy. (keep un-changeable stuff like race and gender out of it).
Seems like this woman is trying to test you as a relatively new (2 months) employee. Not sure if she and you are friends or just work acquaintances.
Happens very often in offices/places of employment. There IS a major difference between office work (where practically no physical strength is required) and factory work (where it often is).
Kinda surprised it happened in a Canadian office. Thought they encouraged health/fitness a little more there than in the U.S.
Since you work in an office, I'd advise being low-key about going to the gym _per se_.
I wouldn't react immediately. Hopefully an opportunity will come up for you to kid her about something.
I'd slowly change the emphasis of pics/stuff in your cube. Shift around a few work items/memos first. (Rearranging...).
Then...
I would post up pictures of you and pets/family doing "fun" things like outdoor stuff. It seems that "the whole office gang" usually relates well to stuff like dog/cat pictures and pics of nature, hikes etc.
I guess if I worked in an office, I wouldn't put up pictures of myself, but I would put up pic's of loved ones, hobbies, activities etc.
All the better if it's a "fun thing" that takes some strength to do....like hike to the top of a mountain. .... Things she probably *can't* do.... :-D
