best cardio routine for cutting fat?

hey guys, I was just wondering what you guys thought was the best cardio routine for cutting fat, not improving your running capacity, etc.?
right now my cardio routine looks something like 15 mins on the treadmill, then 15 mins on the elliptical. is there anything else I could try, cause I don't feel like it is working particularly well for me (can't really see my bf going down, i've been stuck at around 9-10%).

and yes, my diet is fairly good and very clean. high protein, all that good stuff. the reason i'm asking is that I've ALMOST had a six-pack for a long time now. i figure that i might as well go a little harder and just get the damn thing.

You'll get more fat burning form a ketogenic diet than from hours on a stairmaster
    I don't know either lol

You really don't pull any punches.

I agree about the keto and diet thing being a lot more important than cardio.

However, I do advocate for cardio simply because it "makes me feel good". When I am in good cardio condidtion, I simply feel better in general. There is some merit to that.

I'm not arguing against the benifits of exercise. Just the dogmatic notion that "cardio burns fat"

Although an energy efficient body sounds great, it isn't — not if you're trying to lose fat. Energy efficiency just makes the job of losing fat more difficult.

To simplify it as much as possible, fat loss comes down to creating a caloric deficit. The body burns calories primarily by muscular work. Steady state low intensity aerobic training does not require much work from the muscular system and does little or nothing to even maintain muscle tissue.

So, if muscle is "fat burning machinery," then aerobic training makes that machinery smaller and more fuel efficient, which is not what I'm looking for.

So we have an activity that burns calories, but the more you do it, the fewer calories it burns with each subsequent exposure (so to burn the same amount of calories you have to go harder or longer), and in all reality it just doesn't burn that many calories anyway
    I don't know either lol

i think it depends on the person, for me keto didnt really do it for me, and i was never full on keto, i had sometimes 700cals of fat and protein with a cup of brocclli and i was still hunger. It did make me lose weight but after the initial weight lose, i was stuck, and i did low intensity walking 5times a week.
The one thing that did work for me was just eating less, eating much cleaner, and running, the minute i started running again my weight started dropping, and i really got more cut

Performed three times per week, with no reduction in work performed (i.e. you keep increasing intensity or time as you adapt), you're still looking at about a pound per month.

If you woke up an hour earlier each day and just sat and watched TV, you'd burn about the same (7 days x 60 mins x 2 cals per minute).

Anecdotally, you only need to stand at the finish line of a marathon and look at the physiques of the masses. These people developed the joint integrity and muscular and cardiovascular endurance to run 26.2 miles — some of them running in the 3-4 hour range — yet they haven't created enough of a metabolic demand to create significant fat loss.

Effective fat loss hinges on burning as many calories as possible during the workout, and elevating metabolism so that we burn more calories per minute, all day long. Aerobic training fails on both counts.

So why has aerobic training become so popular?

In the past, fitness professionals and researchers have looked at how much fat is burned during the exercise session itself. This is extremely short-sighted.

As my colleague Alan Aragon said:

"Caring how much fat is burned during training makes as much sense as caring how much muscle is built during training."

Think about that. If we looked at a weight training session that started at 9AM and finished at 10AM, how much muscle would we see built if we stopped looking at 10AM? None.

In fact, we'd see muscle damage. We could make the conclusion that weight training does not increase muscle; in fact it decreases muscle, right? It's only when we look at the big picture — and look at the recovery from the session — that we find the reverse is true: weight training builds muscle.

Fat loss training is the same way. Someone talking about the benefits of the "fat burning zones" or "fasted cardio" is a sure sign that the individual has stopped looking at the end of the exercise session. They have come to the conclusion that fasted, lower intensity steady state exercise burns the most fat and made a massive leap of faith to suggest it is best for real world fat loss.

Using that same logic these same people would suggest you avoid weight training if you want to grow muscle.
    I don't know either lol

What's your intensity looking like? I've had the best result from low intesity (walking during lunch) combined with HIIT after lifting (exercise bike wind sprints.)

1400 cals burned is quite a bit of running... Ive been cutting for about a month and just running for about 20 minutes right after my workouts, im already usually sweating my ass off from my workouts anyway and its only 20 minutes. It really only is like 300 calories burned, it doesnt really seem worth the effort.

Ive never read anything like you just posted.. ive never looked at it like that. I always kind of thought that the more you ran, the healthier you got and the easier you could keep fat off in the long run? That read though seems to make sense. Maybe I have a reason to stop doing cardio altogether haha. Ill just eat 50 less calories every meal! =P

****, all it takes is to look at all the cardio instucters at the gym. Never understood how women can teach hour long cardio sessions 6 times a day and still be skinny-fat.

Makes sense, although ill continue my cardio just for health reasons if nothing else. I think if I get to how I wanna look and cant even run a mile without dying from lack of breath it might be kind of sad.. and poser-ish.

What an ignorant thing to say. Putting aside the vanity of having muscles Cardio is great for health reasons. I cringe when i see guys with muscles struggle to catch their breath just running up a flight of stairs.

Thats pretty much what im getting at. Although if I HAD to choose just one it would be muscle. =P But luckily no one has to choose just one... So that was kind of an 8 year old statement. But those kind of statements are fun to use. Thats right, I used it. I enjoyed using it too. Ill use it again sometime.

I gather your mum and dad were not intelligent to teach you how to argue without swear? You post a lot and try and run down anyone who does not argue with your inane views. Of course you have your cronies to jump in and defend you.

On a side note, I can understand why you post a lot here and come across quite cocky. This obviously is the only place you'd ever get any form of acceptance hence the reason why you are always here. Keep on with your dumb views that Cardio is retarded but at least have the decency to admit you are too fat and too lazy to do cardio. Lol!!

Now if I throw you a bone would you stop making stop posts?

looking at your diet is the best *routine* you can do.

Many people have endorsed the HIIT method. I like just doing a quick 15-20 min run/skip rope or anything that keeps my heart elevated. This is done after my workout.

Soon I'm going to try to do cardio in the morning and lift after my classes (4-6pm).

    Just don't be lazy
Failing to prepare is preparing for failure.

    My E-Stats suck.

obviously, w8isgr8 is on roid rage, and since he can't beat anyone up irl (in real life), he is taking it out over the internet. he is the e-expert (champion of the internet)

dont know much about the science of cardio, but if you exert more energy than you take in, you will lose some fat.

i know 2 friends who lost a lot of weight swimming without altering their diet too much.

i know 1 friend who lost a lot of weight running knowing not a lick about fitness

i know 1 friend who lost a lot of weight doing hiit

i know 1 friend who lost a weight after joining the marines

what do they all have in common? cardio.... but who knows, try out the ketogenic diet or whatever that is
