Smile Just turned 43 and want to step it up a notch

I wanted to ask my fellow bodybuilders for some advice. I have been working out since I was 16 years old off and on. I just turned 43 years old and recently was blessed with a Powertec multi system and I love this leverage equipment. I also have a rack, benches, and over a thousand pounds of weight. I have everything I need in my home gym to get into better shape but want to inquire about the best supplements to take being over 40? I have heard great things about the X-Plode products being engineered for a pre and post workout. I had always used the basics Protein powder, Creatine, and Glutamine, and a vitamin pack. I was told the three things I need to focus on is HGH, Insulin, and Protien. The goal is to reduce body fat, increase lean mass, and of course put on size. Any suggestions that will not break the bank. Thanks for you reading my request and for your help.

    Best Wishes,
    Brian

At your age you could benefit from HGH or Test therapy.
Although you look like you've been doing good with your past supplements.
I'm in my 30's so I cant comment too much but good luck with your goals.

We are in the same boat. My supps are listed on bodyspace. I just take the basic stuff and it looks pretty close to what you are taking but I am also taking omega 3 and 6, arginine, MSM and Glucosamine along with a supplement called juice Plus. Good Luck

Dude, you are huge....I think you should keep doing more of the same. Just make sure to be consistant.

If you are using good quality Protein powder, Creatine, and Glutamine, and a vitamin pack, that should be good enough.

While HGH and Insulin have their places, unless you have been tested and are insulin resistant, I would not worry about it.

Keep it simple. Eat clean and lift hard.....That's it!

    BTW.....Happy B'day bro!

There are no large, prospective, randomized trials to detect clinically relevant outcomes on the effect of supplementation in bodybuilding. Such studies are expensive and usually funded by the government who could care less about bodybuilders. Nutrition companies sometimes fund small studies to show that their products work but credibility is always questioned. Most of what we know or think we know is drawn from our own experiences or those of others and also from research that is not specific to bodybuilding. Glutamine is used throughout medicine to help with various diseases. A recent French study showed oral glutamine was effective to inhibit whole-body protein degradation in children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The reason body builders use gluatamine is to reduce the amount of muscle deterioration that occurs when other tissues that need glutamine rob the glutamine stored in the muscle cells -- essentially robbing Peter to pay Paul. I take it as soon as I wake up, right before I go to bed and before and after I lift weights. The research indicates that it may be helpful and my conditioning coach who I respect immensely tells me to take it. Thats good enough for me. Some say they dont use any supplements etc but when you look at their pics they usually dont look that great - to each their own!
