P90X Routine, Worth it?
I have been working out in the gym for awhile now, and i've seen some incredible gains. Don't be fooled by the picture i have up -- as that was me when i weighed 113 lbs.
Right now i've been doing what i need to to build muscle, i do all the core muscle-building exercises like deadlifts (Which i maxed at 315 2 days ago), squats and bench -- but thats not where i stop. EVERY muscle is hit in a different way for 3 weeks, then i rotate). By the looks of it, i'm doing great and feeling bigger and more rock solid than ever.
To fully understand where i'm coming from, you have to first know a little about me. I never, ever, buy a product just to try it out, nor do i jump into something without knowing EXACTLY what it does. I spent 1 full year before hitting a weight-room researching and gathering up information. When i got there i was not stupid, and listened to a personal trainer i hired -- and my time was used very efficiently.
Yea, i'm that kind of guy. Well, i've spent about 2 days now looking into p90x, the workout routine that claims after 90 days you'll see results. At this point i'm not afraid to try it, and i will be able to see through the bull****. I will be a personal trainer (but probably not use the title too much, as you should look the part before becoming one) by the end of may.
So what i want to know are the REAL success stories, or failures. I need to know that you tried this program and pushed it harder than ever, and what you got out of it. If you did not do the program but still have something to say be my guest. Any information will be helpful.
I believe it is a cutting workout. I am going to pack on the muscle first and foremost. I am 150 now, so by the time i am 170-180 i will want to cut to about 160, which is great for my body type. If there are any portions of p90X that gain muscle, i'd like to know.
I don't plan on starting it for about a year if it is indeed only meant for cutting, because i have a ways to go. I will spend that year becoming an expert on p90X, or any cutting routines.
Thank you for your time.

It sounds like what you're doing right now is working. Why would you want to switch?

P90x
I agree, what you are doing sounds like it is working great.I myself have the P90X workout system, and I love it. I bought the kit that came with the pull up bar and resistance bands. it is a nice change from being in the gym all the time and is fun at the same time. Hell even my girlfriend is doing it now. Either way keep up the good work.

You're very right -- i should refrain from switching if what i'm doing is good.
The thing is -- i want to know everything about p90x because it sounds like cutting, and right now i'm putting on muscle. I want to be able to jump into a great cutting workout when i'm done building muscle.

My advice for you is to rely less on what other people say are the general "rules" of weight training and really start listening to your body. From your posts in this thread it seems like you latch onto a certain routine/diet and run with it.
It's great to have goals but you are setting them unrealistically high. Going from 150-180 lbs is not something that a novice lifter will accomplish without the use of steroids. Stop looking at the numbers of weight training and really let your body guide where you take the sport. You will know when it is time to switch up your routine from a mass gaining cycle to a cutting cycle. You can learn to feel when you are ready emotionally and physically to make those type of changes.
As to the P90X routine Id say give it a try when you are ready to make the plunge into a cutting routine. Take your time and ease into this phase though don't just go from eating 4k calories and doing no cardio to eating half that many calories and doing an hour of cardio training a day. Take your time and really get the best out of your training regimine. Other than that I wish you the best and hope you succeed in what you wish to accomplish.

I looked at this aswell, but if I were to do something along those lines, I would probably head over to crossfit. It looks more challenging and its cheaper. just join kempo and yoga to get the rest of the program.
