Ack! Why was this retarded thread brought back to life?
Short term Goal: To cut back before bulking like a demon.
Mid term Goal: To find myself.
Long term Goal: To get what's mine.

67 lbs in 9 years and still counting... (started at 100lbs)

It's a hater's job to hate. So let them hate...

In regards to the purchase of these recommended products by P90X, MuscleTech is one of the most expensive products on the market. Not to mention, the body can only absorb 32-35g of protein every 2 hours. Taking in more than 35g of protein per meal is a waste of money. There are many other excellent and more affordable supplements on the market that can replace what is recommended in the nutritional guide. For example, IsoFlex is a great isolate protein that is both high in protein per scoop and affordable.
Lots of supplements are not required to burn fat. When you are lifting weights and doing cardio, the body primarily taps in to your carbohydrate stores for energy. Only when are these stores depleted does the body begin to burn fat. When your carbohydrate intake is cut to a minimal amount, your body will burn through these stores rapidly. The only energy stores left will be your cellulite stores. Your cellulite stores also provide your body with much more energy than your carbohydrate stores. A great way to think about it is that carbohrates are like kindling for fire; whereas cellulite stores are like logs being placed on the fire. The fire will burn for much longer with logs than kindling.
You must also ensure you are drinking lots of water when you decrease your carbohydrate stores. These diets can be very hard on your liver and kidneys if you do not keep up your hydration levels. You must also be sure to eat plenty of low calorie/low fructose fruits and vegetables to keep up your vitamin intake if you are not already taking a vitamin supplement.
Hope this helps and good luck with P90X! I've seen quite a few friends and co-workers end up with some fantastic results. Some of the were hard gainers, some had a hard time shedding their excess weight.
Just remember, fitness is a lifestyle with 3 rules that can be applied to anything in life: Dedication, Intensity and Consistency!

The best advice is to keep it simple. You will be burning a lot of calories doing to workouts so as long as you clean up your diet, eat alot of lean proteins, and drink a lot of water you will be burning fat in no time.

Refer to my set for some solid guidelines on the diet for p90x.
