Fasted Cardio
So I've been doing fasted cardio for quite some time now, and have made it a habit to do some form of low intensity cardio every morning regardless of the workout I did the previous day. I've heard good and bad things about it, and was wondering if doing it every morning is the right thing to do.
Before I do my morning cardio I take some guarana and multi-vitamins, and once I have enough money I'll add BCAA's into the mix. At around 5'6" 138 pounds I'm following a pretty normal diet of around 2,500 calories for a workout day and 2,000 on rest days. I make my splits so that I lift six days a week, giving myself two days of rest between each body part. I really want to make big gains, but my numbers haven't changed all that much for the past three weeks I've been out of wrestling.
So I hope you guys can give me some feedback, I've been on this forum for awhile now but I've just recently become actively involved in posting.

sounds pretty good, u could maybe take some l-carnitine to better use fat for energy and definitely get some BCAA's.

If you see my new pictures I'm pretty sure you'll agree that I should keep doing cardio to keep my body fat down and to stay in shape.

Do you mean both l-carnitine and BCAA's?

But won't that eat away at the muscles for energy because I'm in a catabolic state when I wake up? This goes back to the whole low heart rate fat-burning debate, and I figured that if I go low heart rate for longer periods of time on most days it'd work out the best. Besides, on most days that I lift I have sprint sessions to have high intense cardio.

If you already do high intense cardio on most lifting days, why do fasted cardio?
I don't know what your goal is, but you are lean enough judging by your pic. For the love of god, why are you people doing fasted cardio ?

The High intense cardio sessions are really short, the longest being ten minutes. As for my bodyfat, again I've gained 15 pounds of fat since I took this picture. If you see my bodyspace I have new pictures on there.
Basically I just want to stay in good shape, get lean and gain muscle. Sounds really original right?

Not gonna happen in the near future with a low calorie diet and multiple cardio sessions per day.
If you want to gain muscle, and kind of fasting is not going to help you progress.

Last time I came into a fasted cardio thread I was the last post on the first page - I was the ONLY one that said, "eat when you wake up."
Here is what you should do to test whether you should be doing fasted cardio or not. Spend the next 8 - 9 hours not eating or drinking and then go for a high intensity run. Come back and tell us how you feel. Probably pretty ****ty.

No but it could happen with a high calorie diet.
What I am trying right now is a concept that Dr. Berardi has projected called G-Flux. He states that if you increase your energy flow substantially (a ton of calories in and a ton of calories out- minus ~500) you will see body recomposition or extremely lean muscle gain if you are already at around 8% bodyfat. The idea is to increase the flow of energy in and out of your body. To do this, I weight-train intensely 4 times per week, and do intense cardio about 45min per session, 5 times per week. I have to eat about 4000 calories to keep gaining, but I'll see if it's worth it.
I would not however run in the morning on an empty stomach. Although fat is often 'burned' before muscle, when you have low glucose levels, your liver converts amino acids (BCAA if you take it +/ muscle fiber) into glucose- glucogenesis I believe.
This is why I think the best way to run is on a relatively small stomach, with a low GI index carb or slow-digesting carb or a small meal with an inhibiting digestion factor like fat or fiber so that you keep a steady, relatively low blood glucose level.

Well your avatar is a bit misleading then...
You're doing enough cardio to stay in good cardiovascular shape while bulking. If you want to lose some fat and still keep adding muscle, forget about it. No cardio can help you. Get your priorities straight, do you want to gain muscle or you want to get lean? Either way, don't do fasted cardio.
