MY DIET! What does everyone think? x
Hey! I just wanted to know what everyone thought of my current diet plan, ive slowly increase my calories over the past few weeks to get my metabolism revvvvvving again! Would love some suggestions and tips! Also do i have to do cardio b4 my first meal for weight loss (I HATE IT)
Meal 1:
60g Oatmeal
100ml Vitasoy fat free soy milk
Meal 2:
Optimum Nutrition Protein shake
200ml Vitasoy Fat free soy milk
Meal 3:
200g Tuna
30g Fat Free Weight watchers sour cream
salad
Meal 4:
Horleys protein bar (only 4 carbs!!!)
Meal 5:
250g Chicken breast
Free veggies like broccoli, capsicum, zucchini, eggplant
This is just one day of my current diet i keep my cals around the 1200 mark not including vegetables! I eat around 140-170g Protein and cycle my carbs between 45g-75g. In the past four weeks i have seen some great definition in my arms which im soooo excited about, I would love some feedback! I also sometimes include 50g prunes once a week, there sooooo yummy would this be detrimental in my diet should i cut the out?

doesnt look like enough food to me; your cals are only "around 1200"!!!!
& No, you dont have to do cardio before your first meal for fat loss.

If you're looking to build a bit of muscle I'd increase your carbs a bit.. and 1200 is way lower than I'd suggest for your calories! Feed those muscles! By increasing muscle mass, you'll naturally burn more calories resting, so you wont need to do as much cardio.
Maybe add some cottage cheese in before bed or something? Or if you're not good with cottage cheese try some casein protein and soya/natural yoghurt or something.
Just a couple of quick suggestions!

You don't seem to have any fat in there at all...
Add some good fats & it will increase your cals... Nuts, nut butters, seeds, oily fish & fish oil, olive oil, flax oil, egg yoke...

I would suggest kind of along the same lines - add more healthy fats, like avocado, nuts, olive oil, fatty fish - and increase your cals a bit!

You need far more calories!!! You should be up around 2000, not 1200. Heck even I maintain at 1700.

I did something similar to this for only 3-4 weeks to lose some Fat. It worked...I lost about 2 lbs of fat a week. But soon your body will get used to this amount of low calories and readjust it's metabolism to saying "Oh I only need 1,200 calories a day to survive." So then you stop losing fat...and in some cases start storing it if you ever hit starvation mode.
Anyhow, like I said this is a great way to lose fat quickly...especially when doing like 45 min of cardio daily...but it's so short term...it's not for muscle gains...in fact im sure you may lose muscle eating so low on calories.
If you continue to see results stick with it...but eventually ...like all of us...diet and routine will need to change in order for the body to keep changing.
I like what Hugo Rivera said once....Your body always remember what it's been through in the past. Like Ketosis, low calorie...if you do it too long...once you do it a few years later it wont make changes...because it's been there done that!

Good. I've recently bumped up my calories from around 800-1000 a day to 1800-2000 and I've gained a ton of good muscle mass. I'd suggest slowly bumping your calories up too. Especially if you are working out, otherwise you're body will go into starvation and begin to eat itself... not a good thing. My suggestion is to add calories to your meals slowly so instead of easing 4-6 meals of 200 calories you begin to eat meals with calories around 300-400.

Your diet is pretty crud. The only meal in there that is decent is the 5th one.
1200 is not to low. Hell thats what I eat. I maintain at 1200 it would seem lately.
The problem is how to get those 1200. You can do it your way, which is up there with starving yourself, or you can use a little brain power and eat 6 meals of real food and still be at 1200 a day.
Ditch the bar, the fat free soy milk, the weight watchers, and maybe not eat tuna from a can but fresh stuff. Then add veggies, good fats, and more lean meats, not from a can or frozen. You will feel fuller longer, and those 1200 cals will be good body fueling cals and not this sugary crap you are eating now.
Oh and congrats on upping the cals and getting healthy.

1200 calories is far too low for you as well. While you think you are maintaing you are actually in starvation mode which is why it appears you are maintaining. It's a metabolic deception. Your body is simply trying to conserve fuel for the famine that it thinks you are experiencing.
