High calorie rubbish. They are full of sugar alcohols, which are carbs, even if they don't cause quite such a big insulin spike as sugar, and which will give you smelly farts, stomach pains that feel like labour contractions and a nasty case of the runs.

The protein in them is pretty crappy, mostly soy rather than whey.

They are high calorie for a very small amount of food, so you'll be hungry again soon. You could have steak and broccoli for the same amount of calories. And I personally think they are far too sweet, and are slightly sickening.

Can you guess I don't like them?

If you want a keto snack to throw into your bag, I'd suggest a packet of nuts instead.

These actually don't have sugar alcohols.

No glycerine? What are the ingredients?

What about some walnuts? They are handy to carry and not too noisy or smelly to eat in company. You can always eat less nuts at other times.

When I first started Keto I bought a box of Fudge Brownie Atkins bars because I figured they might be better than whatever food there was at the business meeting I was attending out of town. I never did eat any of them.

Not sure how they figure 2g net carbs. Here is the nutrition label and although you are right that they don't have sugar alcohols . . . the numbers don't add up to me. 17g carbs - 9g fiber (and 0 sugar alcohols), which I would assume comes down to 8g net carbs for a pretty small bar--not 2g. Maybe they do some funky formula of their own and factor in fat content, etc. But seems deceiving to me.

Polydextrose and glycerine are both sugar alcohols. Polydextrose, in particular, gives me shocking gas and farts.

So what do you suggest for a "protein bar" type replacement? I eat almonds here and there, but sometimes I just want something different. Something a little sweet, but that's portable. I'm usually always out on jobs at times, but I haven't found any low carb protein bars that are worth buying.

There are a few suggestions in the keto recipe section. Generally if I have to carry food, it will be something like pouches of tuna, or biltong (dried beef, a bit like jerky) or pepperami, or nuts, or hard boiled eggs. I'm more inclined to make sweet stuff that I can eat at home at leisure.

I'm not that fond of tuna, so if I have to scarfe it down, it won't break my heart. If I'm eating ice-cream or chocolate mousse, I want to enjoy it.
