Raisins... A solution to all your cravings?
Went to the grocery store and saw some raisins so I decided to buy a few boxes. They are 130 calories, 33 carbs per box with about 30 grams of sugar. The only ingredient on them are grapes. These are basically excellent for a quick PWO snack with the protein shake.
I haven't had raisins in its "pure" form in a while. I've had raisin bread etc and it is damn delicious. Opened up a box of Sun Maid Raisins today and ate a few and holy crap, it is like biting into pure sugar. It is even a bit TOO sweet for me just eating it out of the box.
I'd think this would be a great substitute to grab if you are craving chocolate or something and are afraid you might cheat a lot. It is 30 grams of NATURAL sugar from the grape and is only 130 calories a box. Next time grab a box of raisins and see how that treats your cravings, maybe it'll work.
An idea =)

Raisins are pretty tasty. Will we have some protein raisin bread recipes coming soon?
Have you ever tried dried plums or apricots? They've got the potassium your body needs after a good sweat.

Don't get me started. Dried Plums are the most delicious thing in the world. I usually make chocolate covered dried plums but I go through them way too fast.

What kind do you buy? I have the extra dark Hersey variety. Costs a bundle.

Haha I ate a whole bag of dried apricots once and after about an hour I thought I was going to explode. I was farting for about an hour straight and I stunk up the WHOLE apartment I was in. My roomates were pissed!

I personally don't like the taste of plums and rasins by themselves. I can sometimes eat a lil' box of rasins but they get old tasting way too fast.
They are good fiber! Make ya poop better!

The good thing about raisins is that half the sugar comes from straight glucose, so they are ideal for restoring muscle glycogen as well as liver.

You dont know how much food is in my house. I have a HUGE jar of black sesame chunks right next to me. I love food too much.
This thread I didn't crave anything yet... Haha. Just thought raisins would be a good way to curb cravings if some time in the future I did want lots of chocolate =)

They are amazing I must admit but I hate how calorie dense they are. I eat 1 serving like its a single fruit snack.

Yea they work great when I'm bulking though. I'm a bit more lenient with my caloric intake. They arn't my favorite because it isn't juicy like grapes and fruit but it does work well taking the place of candy.

Hmm I found it pretty weird for raisins to be suggested as a solution to cravings :S
Now pitted dates on the other hand :P

Ah man you guys hit a weak spot for me. Rasins, dates, prunes!! All these are delicious and great for a pre and post workout snack. But the only problem is my own self control. I just cant stop and then 5 minutes later I realize I ate way too much!
Great alternatives when you have a craving for something sweet.
