Nipple Hardening during workouts

I use to work at a gym, and even when I'm working out I noticed that many women have hard nipples while in the gym. Does working out affect women this way or is it just the materials workout clothes are made out of that makes it appear that way? This is primarily just out of curiosity and its something that didnt come up during my AFAA class and I think its something a personal trainer should know to better ease the client.

Yeah, if you plan on training women do not discuss their nipples. Since this also happens to guys, why don't you ask them?

Its absolutely natural and a thing that happens to most women during physical exertion. Happens to +90% of my aerobics classes.

I think its from the sweat, and the cooling effect.

That happens to me too!!!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one. It's ALWAYS the right one...I'm like, what the hell? It looks even more silly when it's just one lol...I try to press it down inconspicuously

I'm sorry I've never come accross those before.
I've seen plenty of non padded sports bras out there though.

Also you;d imagine most women to rather wear the padded sports bra if there are any, rather than the regular one to save themselves from the suprise nipple alert from time to time.

But padded bras are hot and don't dry as quick as the non-padded wicking fabrics. I have one where the padding is perforated, and it still doesn't feel as good as wearing a non-padded one.

I get headlights too. I wear a big loose-fitting t-shirt though, so they aren't as noticeable as tight spandex.

I'd say the explanation is - as always - very simple, very boring, and not at all sexual. During a workout we get into a state of "pump" which is basically higher blood pressure, more blood being pumped into worked areas, you know all that. With all that blood rushing around, it gets in the nipples too causing them to "harden". Nipples are pretty tiny, so an elevation in blood pressure will cause them to pump up, specially during pec workouts.

I worked with a cocktail waitress who had perpetual NHO... Nipple Hard On... She used to use small band-aids to cover them up.

It never happens to me when I do cardio, only when I'm in a position that I can't cover up....like freakin squats for crying out loud....

I'd like to have a padded, or just lined, sports bra, but I haven't seen any for a 36. Do band-aids really work?

That's what I do...most of the time. Champion makes a thick bra that helps, too. I can wear a tank on the "Champion" day
