On some movements, like deadlifts, I can't breath while I'm in the toughest part of the lift. I know this isn't good, but if I'm going to breathe on that part of the lift, I won't be able to lift as much.
I know that this temporarily raises your blood pressure, and I usually get a "blood rush" effect after finishing the set. But my dad told me that if I keep this up, I'll end up blowing blood vessels in my ass down the line. Is there any truth to this?
Can any serious medical problems occur as the result of not breathing during the lift?
I breathe heavily at the top of the lift and on the negative. It's just that one moment of extreme exertion.
i've heard about the blood vessel popping from multiple people, i'm not sure if it's true or not but i'm not going to risk it even if it means i have to decrease my weight a little
just do what feels right, ive blown blood vessels all around my eyes before and it wasnt even from holding my breath, i always breathe in deep on squats, bench, and deadlift while doing the hardest part and it actually helps with the lifts
