After watching this video, I'd rather be lean and strong because I doubt anyone over a certain body weight would be able to pull off what these guys can:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibiGZ...eature=related
With that said, some of the strongest people to ever walk this Earth have been extremely lean:
Bruce Lee: 5'7'' 135 lbs (Arms: 13'')
Tony Jaa: 5'6'' 136 lbs (Arms: 14'')
There is one factor, though. Their bodies aren't as appealing or attractive as say, someone who was their height but weighed 150+ lbs. If I wanted to go out and impress the girls, I'd rather be that height at 150+ lbs. Although not all girls are into "big" guys. So this bears the question: Would you rather be big and intimidating or lean and strong (regardless of what you are now)?

your thread title is worded as if you need to compromise one for the other, you don't.
hardcore bulk for 4 or 5 years... don't let yourself get above 18% bf, your metabolism will be so jacked up all you will have to do is restrict your calories for like 2 months and you will have abs... serious... atleast it worked for me....

dude bruce lee was weak as hell.. 1 finger pushups.... wow... too bad he weighs about 10 lbs more then an average woman, i can do pushups with all 5 of my finger tips with 1 hand and I don't even train to do it, nor do i even do pushups, but you see, I weigh 115 lbs more then bruce lee did. the 1" punch is just a push he retracted quickly... and that kick is all about technique, all 135 lbs of him jumping and building inertia, all that force landing on a mans UPPER body setting him off balance pretty much is not a very well display of "strength", Just think what a lean 250 lber would do if they had the technique and skill bruce lee had.
there is nothing strong about a 135 lb body... only "relative" strength, which doens't stack up in the real world.

Question: How did Bruce Lee lift those dumbells out in front of him?
i read about how bruce lee used to hold out a dumbell in front of him with straight arms holding a weight no one could do with that exercise. how could he do all that when his muscles were so small? now i know everyone says he was ripped, that's obvious, he has no body fat but his muscles still looked small, how could he lift such heavy weights (and not just in that exercise), wouldn't you require bigger muscles for that?Answer: The man was incredibly strong.
The size of your muscles are not always the best judge. It all depends on the shape and size of your muscle fibres and whether you have more long or short fibres. I'm sure you've met people that don't have such huge arms but can still perform serious feet of strength and be stronger that a many which at first size would have bigger arms.
The size of your arms is not always the best judge of your strength. Which of course does not mean that Schwarzenegger type fellows are weaklings but some one with smaller arms can be just as strongLift with your body, not your ego.

I'm not dismissing the fact that bodybuilders are strong. In fact, there are many big guys who are also very strong. But you can't assume that just because you're big, weight more, and have more muscular development, it means that you could beat the crap out of someone who's more than half your size.
I suggest you read this page before you decide to post anything else.

1/2 the **** posted on that site is probably fake
one thing i know 100% for a fact is pure bs is this
"Bruce could thrust his fingers through unopened cans of Coca-Cola. (This was when soft drinks cans were made of steel much thicker than today's aluminium cans)"
dave morton (one of the absolute leaders in grip strength, the first man to rep the #4 more then 3 times) can't even crush a modern coke can with his hand strength alone (almost anyone can smash a coke can with both hands however) .... dave morton also weighs over 270 lbs.
that is complete Bulll ****, While your at it tell me he squatted 945.Last edited by Newtime; 03-10-2008 at 01:31 PM.
