Can you cook chicken breast in microwave?

I usually steam them first, and then grill them or pan-fry them. My question is, can you cook a chicken breast in the microwave? Would it be safe to eat after only cooking them in it?

yea... it would be fine, just make sure that its thoroughly cooked. (same as if you were to cook on grill, in over, etc.) that would be the only iffy thing bout cooking in micro, the possibility of cooking unevenly.
you'd prob be better off w/ boneless chicken... & you could even cut it up prior.
... add some spices before putting it in too.
maybe if you put some chicken in a microsafe bowl, added a little water (or sauce, salsa, etc.) & put in micro if it would kinda have the same effect as "steaming" ?! ... worth a shot.

Yeah I eat boneless and skinless chicken breasts. I'm going to try it, I'm just trying to safe a little money on the gas bill.
    Thanks.

try wrapping it in cling wrap or one of those new steaming zip-locs. if you do it that way the chicken will not dry out or be rubbery.

    hope this helps you.

It's much harder to cook nicely than a potato. I cook a lot of stuff in the micro, but not chicken. I would put them in a bowl with water and heat until just boiling, then leave in the hot water for 5-10 minutes to finish cooking. I know that works well on the stove.

I don't see how this is amusing?

How can food taste bad when cooking it on a grill? Or is it because it's endorsed by George Foreman that it tastes different?

Ziploc Steamer bags work just fine if you're dead-set on nuking your chicken.

i put pre cooked and flavored chicken in the micro almost everyday
the trick is to lower the power and cook it slowly
full power will tend to burn the outside and leave the middle cold

Ok, I tried it. I pre cooked them in the microwave and then grilled them. Couldn't taste the difference between steaming them and nuking them.

cook it at a lower temperature for a longer period of time, so it doesn't denature the protein.

yeah i know but at higher temperatures it steals nutrients even more from the source of food, if u put it at high temperature it will give your chicken a good freaking burning and steal some important nutrients

I'd rather cook it and "burn" some protein from the chicken breasts, than risking getting some salmonella infection.
