Quick reps?

Hi,

There is this girl that goes to my gym who is in pretty good shape, I see her all the time so I can't help but notice the way she trains. She can lifts pretty moderate weights (well actually she does about 12-15 reps per set) but she does them so fast, she sometimes doesn't do a complete range of motion. So I was wondering what you guys like to do? I always do a complete range of motion and don't do my reps at lightning speed. But she is in good shape. I work my muscles groups twice a week... should I incorporate faster/ligher/lighter reps one day and lift heavy/low on another day? I usually do pyramids... any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'd prefer optimal speed possible at a certain weight

Partial reps do have a valid place in a routine. There was a good thread about partials recently in the Over 35 forum http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hlight=partial

just because she looks "in shape" doesn't mean she knows what she is doing.

Fast reps + partial motion usually = lazy.
Fast reps and the sudden reversal of motion are the perfect way to tear a muscle or connective tissue.

Believe me, I have seen people who look in good shape "in spite of themselves"

Do each rep "like you mean it" and you won't need to be in the gym very long each day.

Thanks! I knew it was called something... partials! That was a great thread, I just read through it. I'm just going to keep doing what I have been doing and maybe add some partials on some of my exercises if needed.
