Well my parents go every Saturday to our other house where it's peaceful and relax. They wanted me to go and I almost didn't go but decided to anyways. While we were gone someone breaks into my car and runs off with it. Weird thing was the cops were actually behind the car but he was going 100 mph.
Rather than follow him they decide to back off since it would cause a liability and instead go to my house and arrest me...cause they thought it was me who was driving that fast. So the guy ends up getting away...so far anyways. Would you be pissed at the cop>? Maybe it's standard procedure so I guess i cant get mad at them. They were probably just doin their job. Sucks how they could have caught the guy though...

i beat one of those on the highway with my old integra...
well my mine wasnt cause i didnt want it to hog all my gas...its funny how cars would try to race me cause they thought it was fast heh.

Sucks that they couldn't catch the guy, but seeing how judges/juries started awarding criminals money who got in car accidents when police chased them - it suprises me not
Also the risk to civilians when you have some jackass going 100+ outweights the cost of replacing a stolen car

Well, I think cops have started to back off of car chases because it does more harm than good. What's worse, arresting some dude the moment he steals a car, or chasing him through traffic, endangering the lives of everyone on the road? Some crazy **** happens in police chases; we've all seen the accidents, and they're a lot less likely to happen if the car thief doesn't think he has to have the pedal to the metal. And when I say "accidents" I'm not talking about when the criminal crashes into a pole or something. Who cares about him. It's the innocent people that get f*cked up that is the problem.
I think it also keeps the cops from getting enraged when they catch the guy after a long case. I've heard that when everyone is running up to the criminal, most of them are not running to catch the criminal, but to keep the officer in the front from beating the living fuk out of the crminal. Sure, the guy deserves it, but it just causes trouble for the police with stupid lawsuits.

its a lose lose situation, getting into a car chase can endanger a lot of people but the dude going 100 can easily crash into a minivan and kill a family. and if the guy manages to speed off at 100 and not get into an accident, he gets off with grand theft auto because the cops are looking for the owner and not the thief.

I always get upset when I see high speed chases. It puts other drivers and pedestrians at risk of getting injured/killed.
The solution is to get theft coverage. If your car is stolen, your insurance provider buys you new one.

Yes, this is 100% correct. We back off chases once they start to put innocent people in danger. It's not worth the liability to chase someone for a Misdemeanor UUV charge.
