Pushups Record at my School
I was just wondering if you guys think it would be possible for me to set a new record at my school for pushups. Right now the record is around 127 pushups. I can do around 70. Do you think I can be able to break this record by June, 2008?

Hell yea the trick to cranking out alot of push ups is speed the faster you do the the easier they are push ups will make you a lil stronger and increase muscular endurance but it they wont do much very long for gaining mass unless you do weighted push ups. Inclined push ups do wonders for your shoulders.

I read somewhere on this forum that they're all mainly deltoid endurence, and you just do them really slow and hold it half-way down for as long as you can.

The record at my school was broken several times last year. First it was 100 then 101, then mabey 102, then it just kept going up. I'm hoping I can break it by a real significant amount so I can have the record for a long time.
What do you guys think about pullups? I think the record is 48. I'm not as determined to beat this record as I am with pushups, but it would be really awesome if I did. Are there any special tips for increacing pullups, besides doing more pullups?

Yeah i didnt know at first either, i was like wtf?
As ive said before were a poor school, So we held onto a beam about 6ft up, a wooden one.
Basically you hold on with your arms at a 90degree angle to forearms, so your arms tensed. You just hold on really, see who can do for the longest.
Unfortnatly our term finished before we got onto chins and pulls.
Also in the gym it was quite funny, we have some bench press thing that says 18kg but i think its heavier because i can lift 15kg on a bicep curl one hand and that on bench press that on heaviest (18) i did like 2 reps, Straight after some 'really strong boy' did 2 on 10kg haha
Man im soo cool!

pushups dont have really much to do with muscluar strength. Some somwhat strong but small guy can probably do more than a big bodybuilder can. Its more about endruance than true strength

You dont have to stay down for 1 sec in PE. We just have some one make a fist under our chest and we just have to touch it and go back up for it to count as one. Our school record is like 75 in 2 mins.

I used to do 150 in 2 minutes.
Train in sets of 20 X 20, then move it up to sets of 50.

my friend went to the marines and can do over 120 from training like 5 months.. so yea, its definitely possible
but is it worth it? id say skip the wuss excercises that wont get you anywhere, and stick to the heavy lifts. set a new squat record or something

it's easy to gain in pushups. i started doing 30 in 30 seconds, and then every day i did 5 more. I stopped at 50 after 4 days though lol cause it wasn't seriously important to me or anything. If you keep adding 5 more to your max you should be able to do a buttload in notime.

Just train for pushups...do push ups every night and I guarantee you will kill the record...keep trying to do more and more each night without stopping. Good luck man.
