Have you seen this too?

LOL!
who could possibly argue with the founder of the weather channel?
now that he disputes global warming his learned opinion will certainly negate the consensus of the national academy of sciences (NAS)!
how many nobel prizes did the weather channel founder receive?

whats even funnier is i wasnt talking about the nobel PEACE prize winner!
i was referring to the nobel laureates on the board of the NAS!
maybe you have heard of them?
they represent the foremost minds in their applied fields of SCIENCE...
but of course their opinions wouldnt matter to you guys...you have the weather channel founder on your side!

I hope that you will one day realize that the Nobel Peace Prize and the Nobel Prize are all politically motivated. The Nobel Prize... not so much because they actually need to have some science behind it. But the agenda's are pushed these days for political and greedy reasons. Of course, they do award people who actually deserve the awards, but there credibility has been shot in the last couple decades.

Global warming is not a myth. It's the "whys" and "hows" that people differ about.
From what I've read, it's caused by a natural cycle more than anything else."For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Not sure if anyone's seen this, but Australia's scientists just said they need to cut down their vehicular use nation-wide by 80%.
Can you imagine that 8 out of 10 times you want to drive your car, you have to find an alternative?
They also said that flying in a jet should now become a 'once in a lifetime' experience.

I agree with poster above, I think the warming of the planet is overly demonized... but, we are still polluting our drinking water, soil, killing the natural habitat, etc... you can't refute that, could care less about the temperature or a new coast line...that is going to happen anyway, plate tectonics are not going to stop, volcanos are not going to stop, etc etc... but lets stop messing with it anyway.

so all the esteemed members of the NAS, all the nobel prize winners, ie the most gifted scientific minds on the planet, should not be taken seriously?
whom do you suggest we put our faith in regarding matters of science then?
the bush administration? talk radio? conservative 'think tanks'?"As sure as the world stands, you jf1 shall spend an eternity in Hell in eternal torment..."

Essentially, you saw A Beautiful Mind and now feel you're qualified to make broad statements about Nobel Prize recipients. Terrific.
I do think that global warming has been grossly exaggerated, though. Is it a concern? Absolutely. Is it a sure sign of an impending apocalypse? I don't think so.Last edited by IronGuy83; 03-04-2008 at 11:59 AM.

Yet another global cooling article. Basically the article states that since this was a cold winter (actually some parts of the world had an unusually warm winter) then that proves GW isn't happening. What we still find is that there is a general warming trend overall. What is truly odd is that people who will accept this article will ignore the decades of warming but claim one winter disproves the whole notion.
I clicked on the link referring to their past article on global cooling. And not surprisingly, it is just a rehash of the same old stuff. They claim that the Canadian Kenneth Tapping is skeptical of GW. He isn't. Tapping was quoted out of context and it is being spread around the Internet like wildfire.

The Russian scientist mentioned does say that global cooling will occur, but not for another 100,000 years.

/thread.
Denying what the overwhelming majority of prominent global climatologists and weather-related scientists have already reiterated dozens of times already, that climate change is occurring and it is (at least partly) caused by anthropormorphic greenhouse gases is nothing more than a knee-jerk emotional reaction in order to justify one's own wasteful consumption-driven lifestyle.

I like how global warming deniers always discuss politics and not science. If you want to disagree with politicians that's perfectly alright but the science on this issue is very clear. If you want to prove to me global warming isn't real I'd like to hear it from a credible scientific organisation. Thing is every major scientific organisation on the planet agrees that global warming is primarily caused by humans.

A million scientists could agree and it wouldnt matter. Real science is not decided by consensus, but by fact(s). If the majority of scientists said it was ok to rape little children, would you go along with it?
Like I said, go with the crowd if you like, just don't try to force your beliefs or what you think should be done on others.

The fact that the global climate is changing is not being debated by anyone as far as I know. The argument stems from the ridiculous notion that man is responsible for the warming trends associated with the past decade as opposed to naturally occurring cycles that existed long before mankind even thought about these things. We're also tired of hearing idiots that use erroneous examples to demonstrate global warming, like hurricanes, iceberg separation and dead polar bears.
The polar ice caps on Mars are melting, mankind held accountable.
Some polar bears are increasing in number. Newsflash: The media distorts the truth?
Top Berg Researcher rejects global warming as cause for largest iceberg in recorded history.
