How much is too much magnesium?

I'm taking magnesium for bone health, anxiety, and to help with constipation. Is it ok to take 500mg magnesium oxide 3x per day? 2x doesn't seem to be completely helping my constipation.

You may be taking too much magnesium. The recommended dose of magnesium per day is about 350mg. Once you start going over that you begin to see similar symptoms if you were magnesium defficient.

What is the name of the magnesium supplement your taking?

The U.S. RDA for magnesium is the amount of the mineral used as a standard in nutrition labeling of foods. This allowance is based on the 1968 Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) for 24 sex-age categories set by the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academy of Sciences. The 1989 RDA has been set at 280 milligrams per day for women 19 to 50 years of age and 350 milligrams for men 19 to 50 years of age.

    women - 240mg
    men- 350mg

Take ZMA (3 tablets is equal to 450mg of magnesium) 30 mins before u go to bed...zinc is also in ZMA. 300mg of magnesium is enough for a daily dose, so only take 2 tablets; dosage for woman.

maybe you need to drink more water, especially with a fiber intake that high.

I usually reccomend 1 liters per 30-35lbs of body weight
