Anyone else try adding Protein Powder to their Oatmeal
I try to add 1/2 scoop of Whey Protein Powder to my Oatmeal...AFTER I cook it in the microwave for a couple mins. Then I add the powder..I stir it up pretty good...I have yet to make this taste halfway decent.
Anyone else have any recommendations on how to make this taste good? And yes, I have tried MM & Oats and also think that tastes gross.

Sounds great...my problem is I try to have this as my Mid-morning snack at work. I don't have milk/cottage cheese etc at my work. There is a microwave & I have my bowl and bring in my oats & Protein Powder

Adding whey to oats is pretty common practice around here.
I actually used apple whey and ground cinnamon in mine yesterday - it was really good, but green.
I have used vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream, graham cracker and peanut butter whey flavors in my oats.

I used to do the whole protein powder, oats, and milk combo. Eventually though, it killed off my entire ability to eat oats ever again. Even when I look at oats now (almost 1.5 years later), I still can't eat em. It just became way too nasty for me.

I add protein to my oats every day. I usually stick with vanilla so that I can add fruit or some other add in, and not have the flavors compete.

So do you add the powder to the oats AFTER you cook the oats? and just mix it in?

Correct. Nuked whey is not very tasty.
Sometimes you have to add a little more water to absorb it all.
I don't use milk because I'm cutting, but I sometimes used low carb skim.

EGG whites instead of water
What I have done in the mornings in the past is instead of using water for the oats in the microwave is I use egg whites instead of water. All you have to do is stir it every 20 seconds or so, to make it so the eggs do not harden(if they harden it is quite possibly the most disgusting thing you will force down) otherwise if done properly is a great meal. I also add half a chocolate myoplex pak mixed with skim milk for flavor...this is my favorite pre workout meal(1 hour pre-workout)...I have the other half of the myoplex pak 30 minutes before my workout.

I tried adding whey to cooked oats once, and I ended up throwing it out. The only way I like oats/whey together is in a blender with come cold water. They don't always blend very well sometimes, but I don't mind drinking the sludge at the bottom of my shaker

oatmeal
try adding nonfat powdered milk to oatmeal!
it dissolves perfect, adds tons of protein (and some carbs) and is LOTS cheaper than protein powder!
i use instant oatmeal, where you just add water...throw in some milk powder and cook.
sweeten with molasses and cinnamon and add regular milk!

These macros are not sufficient for me. 9g is not "tons" of protein.

That sounds very unique..I'll have to try that on a weekend. Like I said, I am looking for this to be my 10 am mid morning snack...so I won't have many resources at my office.
Thanks for all the recommendations though

hmm, well if you are short on time and resources because you are at the office, you should make some homemade protein bars. there are alot of threads around. i make mine by:
2 cups oatmeal
8 scoops protein powder
1 cup water
1 package sugar/fat free jello pudding. (usually chocolate or white chocolate)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon
splenda
mix all together, put in 8x9 or something like that baking pan, cook for 10-15 minutes 200f, cut into 8 bars, sprinkle with wheat bran to keep from sticking and put in the fridge till needed. usually holds pretty well if it is allowed a few days for the outside to harden in the fridge.

This sounds good - rarely do I see a bar recipe without peanut butter. Thank you.
