    Mass Gain = Smith Machine?

My intention is to gain more mass, and so I am concentrating my efforts on Squats and DeadLifts quite a lot.

Is doing squats on the Smith machine just as efficient
as the free barbell? I haven't veered into the land
of the free yet .. just afraid of screwing my back ..
but i can squat 275 (if the bar is actually 45)on the
    smith ..

    Cool

Yep. Do free weight squats. They don't force you into a position.
