Will birth control affect your physique??
Hey I'm 27 and thinking of going back on birth control pills. I used to take them to regulate my periods, and once i was single for awhile, and not having sex, i decided to go off of them. Also at that time i was really training hard and getting ready for my first figure competition, which i ended up winning, and this may sound crazy but i was super anal about everything i took and didnt want any extra estrogen in my body(i know that sounds like a guy thats 220lbs.) but anyway, was wondering if going back on them would change my physique like holding more water, softer, puffy...etc..Like i said its since ive been off of them that i have an athletic body which i would like to keep. has anyone gone off and back on? or are any of you fabulously fit ladies on them? thanks so much..

hi, i personally dont like em bc they make me feel sick. ive heard stories of friends takin em and gaining wt bc the pills increase ur appetite. but there r tons of diff brands and the side effects usually go away after a couple of months. sorry, its kinda general but this is all i can say.

It can, but the only way you will know how it affects you personally is by taking them. If bloating is an issue, then Yasmin is the first choice because it is a diuretic. But I have heard the most negative comments from Yasmin as far as mood changes are concerned.

I'm a real person!!
I just got off Yasmin, Spirionolactone and Avandia. I was told that I would drop 2 lbs a week when I first went on all the meds. HAHAHAHA I just maintained. Since I went off at the end of November I have lost almost 10 lbs.
As for yasmin and spiro with water weight, they dried me out so bad. Now I try to get my gallon a day and I am hydrated and not bloated.
I personally will never go back on them ever again.

i've had this same question....does anyone know if they stop you from gaining muscle??? But with the weight gain...i've noticed that as long as i do cardio i can stay at the weigth i want, but once i stop doing cardio i can gain fat pretty easy...but is there any evidence that birth control can stop women from gaining muscle, beause i feel like i have a hard time gaining muscle???

to zombie 85 girl, they might keep you from gaining muscle...like i said once i got off them was when i developed muscle very easily....so giving a steady supply of estrogen even in low doses may make it harder to gain muscle. you could try going off and see if you see a difference, unless you need to be on them. i was origionally wondering if they would make it hard for me to keep muscle if i went back on them being that i gain it easily now.

I have an IUD with sythetic progesterone (very minute amounts). It's called Mirena and lasts for five years. You may lose your period if you take it, but I've not retained water from it-- no estrogen..

Any weight gain issues? I just got on Mirena 6 weeks ago and am antsy about it, since I gained 30lbs on Depo. :P

I have the Mirena - no gain problems - not bitchy hormone problems either - have had for 2 years now - had a solid period for about 2 months - then no period at all a little over 1 year - now I am spotting every month - overall no problems.

none at all, no. Any gains I made back when I had it put in five years ago was solely from snarfing down cookies

Birth control depending on which you are taking may affect your body. 2 years ago I was on the ortho evra patch, I was really reluctant but since I have severe endometriosis I did not have a choice. I had the patch for 1 year, I started gaining weight and I was bloaded all the time. Believe it or not my boyfriend who is a bodybuilder that I made around that time, told me to switch with something else with less estrogen. I changed with Trinesa the pill version with less estrogen. After, probably 5 months, all the symptoms went away, and my weight started to go down. So, I really believe that depending on which one you take it may affect your body at some level.
