What time of day to do cardio?

I'm 29 y/o, 5'9, 180. I've been reading up on the forum and am about ready to start lifting (wanted to get a baseline education and a workout together before I started doing something wrong). I believe I need to lose about 20-25 pounds of fat, and I'm hoping to replace at least some of that loss with muscle.

I've started walking/jogging every night. I alternate between the two for a couple of reasons. 1. Frankly, I'm out of shape and I just can't jog 1 3/4 miles yet (my neighborhood "path") 2. I've read that walking is just as good at losing existing fat, if not better, than jogging, where jogging burns off more readily available calories. I've also started punching the heavy bag for about 20 mins every other day.

My question is, does it make a difference what part of the day I do my cardio? I usually hit the bag mid-day, 4:00, and do the jogging and walking between 9 and 10. I've sen a lot of people that do it in the mornings, so I was wondering if there was a reason?

Thanks in advance!

- Increase your lifting to 45 minutes.
- As long as you are walking briskly, you are good.
- Time of day doesn't mater as much as doing it regularly.

If your going to weightlift on the same days you do cardio, it is recommended that you do cardio early in the morning and weightlift later on in the day.
