Someone once told me that protien should never be mixed with milk or else the protien won't work. I think that's why the direction always say mix with WATER or SKIM MILK. Correct me if I'm wrong. I've been using water ever since. L8rz.
I have never had this problem. as a matter of fact milk protein is good for you. I would mix it with milk it tastes better and really this is bull**** where ever you heard it from.
But is it ok to use milk in a creatine/carb/protein mixture or will the milk slow down the rate of absorbtion so much that the creatine does not get effectively absorbed?
I'm just shooting in the dark here, but perhaps the logic behind those claims is that you can only absorb a certain amount of protein at one sitting? Anyone know if there is any scientific basis for that? I know that with, say, creatine, or vit C, if you got enough, you piss the rest out. Protein being a macronutrient, I wouldn;t know if it's the same way. Obviously I'm not talking huge meals here, like having 4 shakes in a row etc. But...anyone?
Not again, that has to be the tenth time in less than a week someone posts that question on here. The absorption of the amount of protein you take in at one sitting is dependent on many factors such as age, metabolism, type of protein, other macronutrients being consumed at the same time, the time of day, the situation and so forth and that amount can easily vary from 30 grams to 200+ grams in a single sitting. Milk would actually increase that amount because it contains 48 grams of carbs per liter, some fats and it slows digestion allowing more of it to be optimally used.
