Ketosis Entry -> Pre Carb Up -> Carb Up
So basically, tomorrow (Tuesday) will be two weeks exactly since I retried ketosis (took three days off for Christmas). Only cheated once by drinking a few ounces of hard liquor on New Years (its once a year) and even then I was never knocked from ketosis and it wasn't even that much to consider TRULY cheating.
I've been very strict on not eating carbs; I don't count my calories because I feel I don't need to; I just make sure I'm getting at least 180g protein (~LBM), and each meal has over 1.5x the amount of fat than protein, minus PWO shake. I eat when I'm hungry, and including my PWO shake this is 5 meals a day.
ANYWHO, the point of this post is to ask: am I SUPPOSED to feel like TOTAL crap at least two different points in the day? I'm blaming this on the lack of carbs/glycogen or whatever in my blood. I've done cardio at least 5 or 6 times in this two weeks, and my split is 3 days on (2 bodyparts + 1 smaller bodypart per day heavy weight 4-8 reps), 1 day off, repeat (cardio on random days).
A lot of times during my workouts (mostly the last half a week) I've felt really lousy and not motivated... I finally get into it about halfway through. Times like at night and even after a first meal in the morning though, I absolutely feel horrible.
Please tell me this is because I need to carb-up, because then I'll know I'm succeeding in the diet and working hard enough. I feel like I can work out just as hard as before once I get in the groove, but this groove is deep and much digging needs to be done before I can find it.
Thanks for the help..

That's how I feel when I've depleted too much. Two weeks between carb-ups is my limit before I feel like total crap. I went 4 weeks and was having trouble even maintaining my lifts, much less increasing them. A carb day later I doubled the weight from the last workout.
Have you tried carbs before and after your workout to get your energy up? Having the "right" amount shouldn't kick you out of ketosis for very long. When I do that I am back in ketosis a few hours later and have a good workout. 15 grams before and after with my shakes works to keep me moving without being too much.

This would be the essence of TKD my friend. In ckd, you endure the pain
xtrell, totally normal to feel like that. I've often kicked an inatimate object or two while being in ketosis. No pain, no gain, right?

Alright well 20 minutes thus ENDS my first [official] educated carb-up. Last time I carbed up was only after 10 days as opposed to 14, and I just ate everything: I didn't bother to count carbs or protein or anything and ate way too much junk food and I don't remember getting into ketosis before Christmas anyway (was about 10 days later).
Anyway, this day and a half I hope went well. I DID cheat with ice cream and frozen yogurt, but I feel that it was good for me because I realized that I didn't even have cravings for them, so my mind won't even think about it from now on.
I ate 3 cups of brown rice, quite a few small potatoes, a few whey shakes, 50g dex and 50g malto with 50g protein for PWO, along with another 30g dex later on, a piece of wheat bread, a few garden burgers, whole wheat pasta, cottage cheese, a few nutrigrain cereal bars (like candy but again, carbs and a nice treat), 2 clif bars (same thing), some chicken, some eggs, a few bowls of cheerios, a bowl of grapenuts, the occasional sugar to sweeten my tea, and a few other random things I may have forgotten.
I know I ate a little too much junk food, but this will control me for the next two weeks I know. I'm pretty sure I got enough healthy carbs.. I've heard different things about whole wheat on keto carbups, so I didn't focus on just that, so I tried to eat a lot of rice and potatoes because I know I've read that Eileen and some others on the C-K-D boards eat a lot of those. I know for sure I didn't eat OVER my protein macro, if anything it was a tiny bit under, but I figure that's better than going over in this diet... Fat was very low aside from my cheat ice cream, definitely under 80 grams which I believe what where I should be.
So I guess I'll see how well I did tomorrow on leg day and how long it takes to get into Ketosis again. I'll be doing cardio Friday and probably Sunday for sure, hopefully by then.
Jaim I remember you mentioned something about getting into ketosis faster after carbups and I asked what, but I forgot what thread that was in. Mind sharing? Thanks.
EDIT: By the way, I had a REALLY weird sleep last night, almost as if I had gone to sleep under the influence of alcohol or an illegal substance, but I was perfectly sober. Before I was asleep I JOLTED awake to go to the bathroom and from then on I tossed and turned all night and had very weird dreams. I couldn't think of a possible cause other than the sudden carbs in my body (I'm not stressed out, nothing is going on in my life but working out and dieting!). If it happens again tonight I'll know for sure. This happen to anyone else?

To get into ketosis faster, bump up your carbs to anywhere from 70-75% and do hiit. That's my secret Everyone's secret
My sleep is always disturbed the night of a carb up. Not just because I have this huge bloating belly and lots of heavy breathing but because the carbs go right through me (mostly because I chose to take my carbs in the form of sugar alcohols - NOT RECCOMENDED Do as I say, not as I do...)

Do I do the 75% fat/25% protein ratio every day until I get back into ketosis? Would doing more cardio get me back into ketosis faster?
Thanks!
