Hey man, nothing at all wrong with that bro, lmao, should see what I started out with. I think i will. Looks good, keep at it and work hard, equipment isnt what makes or breaks you.
I have moved on from my homemade bench, to a actual gym

Nobody needs to tell you to never let a 'perceived' lack of equipment get in the way of progress. You didn't let that stand in your way, or 'obsess' about what you don't have. Good job, and I'd be willing to bet that you'll stick with it, and actually progress faster, than someone who buys a room full of equipment before they ever even touch a dumbbell

i love the space.....looks like a great weight dungeon. you can slowly build that up into one great space.
though i must say that that that red stick figure would freak me out while working out...unless it would spot me

LOL the red stick figure is a drawing of me while preparing for a big deadlift (230 pounds right now )
right now am happy with what i got further down the road when i get stronger maybe i will add something like some sort of bench and squat stand or just go to a real gym.
by the way a lot of ideas for this came from this forums...i'm glad i found such a good site maybe in the future i'll post a few picture of my cardio )(cutting grass, sand bag carring, shoveling and tree planting )
and thanks for the comments. i appriciate them.

That area is superb. All i would suggest u purchase ifpossible is a squat cage so you can do all sorts on your own and an adjustable bench so you can do benchpress in the cage, shoulder press etc etc..
Whatever anyone says a pit is the best place to train,no tv's just rusy tunes and iron. You should see the olympic weightlifting gym i go to..its a pit but its awsome..
Go hard man

to DhsHamada08 the matress has 3 purposes: 1) for climbing up to the pull up bar 2) when i do zecher squats if the weight is to heavy i drop it on the matress for safety reasons 3) to collapse on it after doing 10 sets of deadlifts
to looking swole: yes, when my parents treathen me to throw me out of the house no seriously i use it for the above reason and in the spring/summer is great to relax after working out....
to wasting machine: yes i know it would be great to make or buy a squat cage and a bench but right now and for atleast until summer when i can start working i'm stuck with this....really i'm happy with my setup....my friends who go to the gyms in the city laugh when i say that i work out with only a barbell. i don't know i think it is better having this doing deadlifts/dips/cleans/front squats etc. rather than going to a fancy gym doing bench presses and curls every day...

dont the eights bounce back up after dropping it on the mattress?lol i hate getting hit by weights, but a bummer of working out at home is you can barely ever try to max or lift high, because no spot lol, a couple weeks ago i tried doing a set of 225 i currently max at 260-270 but i thought id get it up easily the second one and i couldnt lift any more i lost balance lol on my bench and the bar came down and hit my lip lol cut it open badlllllly lol i felt like such a dumbass, never again lol

Dude, no wonder your girlfriend lifts more than you. Just kidding. But seriously, I'd join a gym. Who can't afford 30 bux a month.

i can afford it but i live out of the city where i live... the nearest gym has only a smith machine 2 benches and 4 machines with cables, the other gym is full of curl/bench idiots with the tough guy atitude and the guy who runs that place thinks squating/deadlifting is dangerous and that i could do them better if i buy suplements from him(????)....why should i go to a gym when i can workout at home, do whatever i like, whenever i want to? i really don't care if i don't have equipment and that i work out alone. i love working out in my ''gym'' even if it looks like its from the first world war....i hope planecrazy you understand what am talking about....

It's a good start. You can certainly get a quality workout with minimal equipment. It's just about getting creative and maximizing what you have.

I sure can't laugh at you. At least you are obviously USING what you have and are improving yourself, unlike me who has a bunch of equipment and can't bring myself to actually work out on it.

That is the coolest gym I've seen in a while. Hardcore all the way. I applaud your creativity. Next time someone says I can't workout due to lack of equipment, show them your pics.

alexc i'm lifting for strength 5X5 right now deadlifts, pullups, dips, weighted pushups...and now starting to do squats also..
overload thanks for your comments i thought about posting pics of my squat rack since a lot of people say on the boards that don't have equipment/power racks etc. i hope this gives an idea how to build a very simple set up for squating at home...mines works great, very stable and comfortable...

What I don't have is the space that you have.
Houses in Australia don't have attics or basements.

you don't really need a squat rack, ever tried one legged squat?
my home gym is very similar to yours, the only other things I have are
-kettlebell set
-ab wheel
for an extra challenge add in handstand push ups

Lovin it looks a bit like my gym(spare bedroom) except no dbs and my pull up bar and dip bars are in the garden(when it snows I like to pretend Im in rocky 4). As for benching how about a solid bit of timber elevated on some breeze blocks, its what i use but only with dbs dont dare get pinned with no spotter.

Kinda dungeon esk but every little bit counts. I started with a bench and leg extension machine and two adjustable dumbells. I only had weights up to 120! Good luck
