I made a smooth one out of scrap 2" thick steel pipe and some nylon rope...cost about $3-4. I made a loading pin out of 3/4" PVC pipe for standard plates.
I also have an Ironmind wrist roller that mounts on a 1" bar and I use it for supported rolls on my rack. I use an Olympic loading pin for the weights.

Here is what the wrist roller works: The forearm flexors and to a lessor extent the brachioradialis.

Great site about forearm strength and grip.
I'd make one out of Pvc. you could probably build twenty of them for 16 bucks.Last edited by Wildtim; 03-12-2009 at 08:10 AM.

Great reference and post, as always. Thanks Tim......as always, I can't rep you.
Thread start 2+ years ago Buff, I doubt the posters are checking it anymore
You're point is incredibly valid though, it doesn't take much to wipe out with that exercise. Of course I always do it at the end when I'm already tired anyway.
I've posted this before, but it bares repeating. I have been able to completely take the shoulders out of this exercise with my power rack. I position the barbell about nose high and rest my forearms on it. I then roll with the arms supported so my shoulders don't do any work. Grueling after just a few reps....you will notice a difference.
Plus, one more cool thing you can do with your power rack▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪
