    20 lbs in 10 months?

just wondering.. do you guys think it is a realistic goal to gain 20 lbs of muscle in 10 months with a heavy (yet well balanced) diet, and a routine based mostly around compound exercises?

For the beginner to intermediate trainee at your age, it's definitely possible.

Yes easily if you're a novice. When i first started i had a terrible program, and avoided almost all of the big compounds, yet still gained 15lb in about 8 months.

If you're relatively new to weight lifting I think it's possible. As you further along it gets harder.
    Bench press - 175x4 (200)
    Dead lift - 355# (400)
    Squat - 4x225# x three sets (300)
    Military Press - 6x120# (BW)
    BB Row - 6x155# (175)

I think 20 lbs of lean body mass in 10 months is definitely possible in a beginner. Personally I wouldn't want to gain at a faster rate than that anyway. The body needs time to adapt.

Agreed completely but if you have been lifting for a few years 20 pounds of all muscle will be impossible naturally

I'm trying to gain 20 pounds in about 10 months. I am 28 years old, but I am a complete noob. So far, I have gained about 5.5-6.5 pounds in 2 months, including missing some workouts because of the holidays. My waist has not increased, my biceps are bigger, (I am doing only compound lifts and bodyweight exercises, no curls!) my legs are bigger and they "jiggle" less when I shake them. So if I had to guess, I'd say it's been all muscle that I have put on.

I'd say it's possible to do 20 lean in 10, but you'd have to make sure to have a good clean diet and get lots of rest. I'm planning on writing up a journal of my progress. Good luck!

Unless you're at a realy advanced level (like 5'9" 220lbs ripped - advanced), it's not only possible, it's a very decent goal if you do things right.
