Signs of a Change in Metabolism?
I've noticed over the past week that I get noticably hungry (but not "starving hungry") within 2-3 hours of eating a regular meal (6-8 ounces of lean meat, some sort of vegetable, a serving of grain/starchy vegetable carbs). Before, I could eat a meal like this and go at least 4 hours without feeling hungry.
Of course, before, I wouldn't eat until my stomach was eating itself and I was starving. I ate maybe 3 times per day, if that.
I didn't know if this was all in my head or if my metabolism had changed in response to my new eating habits. I hope it is the latter.

Sounds like it to me~ although I don't think I get the gnawing hunger thing since I began eating right, post workout being the exception (would eat my own young if they were close enough!)

lol you too are silly
Are you eating at least 6 small meals a day?
Normally in the morning like 7:30 I have a protein shake with fruit and I find that I am starting to feel hungry again around 10:30, I wait til 11 and then have a protein bar and normally dont eat again til 2-3 thats when I have my lunch

not me. I go for VOLUME feeding, here. That or some serious fiber.
b fast example could be, say this:
1 c skim milk with 1/2 c all bran
1/2 c 1% cottage cheese (sometimes more)
some sort of fruit, usually apple (must be green or I won't touch it hehe) or dried fruit like dates or figs or prunes (don't laugh) or apricots
OR:
1 whole egg mixed with 1/2 c egg beaters (sometimes more)
1 lo carb tortilla (more fiber)
some kinda fruit
I don't know, but it takes longer to digest and makes me feel fuller than any protein shake or bar, although I do have those on occasion. My thinking- why drink it if I can CHEW!

Off subject a little....
Oh, yeah..I'm eating like there's no tomorrow. I LOVE it! I actually have to force myself to eat sometimes...it's great. Instead of worrying about whether I ate too many calories, I worry about eating too little.
Now, I say to myself.."wow, I ate that great meal two hours ago and I'm a actually a little hungry for my snack". Whereas before I'd eat maybe two or three times per day (mostly highly processed crap foods) and I could go for hours without even feeling any hunger pangs. Then when I finally did feel hungry I'd be starving and I'd eat too much because I was so hungry.
Now, here's the off subject stuff......
I feel for many of those poor people who go on those liquid diets advertised in our women's magazines (Women's Day, Family Circle, People, etc.)..yeah..the ads where people lose like 100-120 pounds...and they get 800 to 1000 calories per day and most of them are so miserable and sad.
And don't get me started on the way the food tastes..oh, God, it's slop and terrible!
The posts they make on their forum site! They look like, "I Ate too Much Today..I Hate Myself" or "I had a Bad Day..I'm Depressed". I just want to sign on to post and tell them.."c'mon over to the BB site..you get to eat all kinds of great tasting, healthy and awesome foods..you don't have to suffer and beat yourself up anymore! And you'll love what weights do to your body..you won't be able to wait on your rest days to get back at it.
But the maker of the product now moderates each post before they even allow them to be seen, they would never allow it..it would cut into their business.
Disclaimer
This is not to say that some severely obese people aren't well suited for a liquid diet due to their unique mental and physical needs..but I was one of them that didn't need to go that route and didn't even know it at the time..there are more like me out there.

haha edited for a grammatical error? Liberal arts degree, perhaps?
I know how that feels- stuffing it in. I was previously on a Dr's diet that was lower calorie- the typical higher carb low fat low protein type diet that you see all the time. While it did work and all, I did feel a bit deprived, although because my food choices weren't processed, I wasn't actually hungry
Now after upping the protein significantly and the fat somewhat too... I did have to stuff it in like crazy- especially because I was not used to eating that much protein at ALL! The Dr's regimin would probably amount to 5 oz of chicken a day-- and that's what I end up eating in one meal sometimes! I think the protein addition has added to my satiety level, but also keeping in good carbs doesn't give me that horrible "lo carb" crunchy chips feeling (sorry keto and carb cycling ppl! *blush*)
yessss... shove in the food. I find myself going "oh no!" at night and forcing down a bit more food before bedtime sometimes... oops
