Bench's 07 Drive for a 1600 Total
Its a new year and new goals for 2007. I am shooting for a 1600 total this year. I have been working out now for about 2.5 years. For anyone that has not followed my 5 x 5 thread, here are my stats to date.
Height 6'0
Weight - 225
Bench - 370
Squat - 455
Deadlift - 515
Total - 1340
Goals
Bench - 425
Squat - 550
Deadlift - 625
I am using a 4 day split. Heavy Upper/Heavy Lower/Off/Light Upper/Light Lower - Deadlifts
I also hope to compete in a RAW event this year as well. I dont expect to do well but just to compete.

Heavy Upper
I though my gym was open today. I went there and the lights were out but fortunately the owner was there setting up a new computer system so he let me workout. I was the only one in the gym today.
Bench
300 x 5
310 x 5
320 x 5
300 x 6
BB Rows
290 x 3
290 x 3
290 x 3
265 x 9
Incline DB Press
70 x 5
85 x 5
100 x 8
85 x 10
Chins
BW+40 x 3 x 5
BW x 8
Tri-Extension work
BB Curls
135 x 3 x 5
95 x 15
DB Side Laterals
35 x 2 x 10
Bench felt good today. I need to either reset rows or switch exercises, perhaps chest supported t-bars. No idea on incline weight today. I was just feeling around to were I need to be. My back is about 90%. We will see how it goes tomorrow.

Just a quick Q...why do you prefer 2 heavy days in a row instead of alternating heavy and light? I would think alternating would be easier on the body....

Thanks Gymratluke. I plan on deadlifting on Fridays. If I deadlift on Tuesday, I would be afraid it would affect my squats.

Heavy Lower
My back is still messed up a bit. I still have a decent amount of discomfort in my right hip and lower back. I can bend over but I cant touch my toes yet.
Squat
Bar x 10
135 x 10
225 x 6
275 x 1
315 x 1
355 x 1
385 x 1
415 x 1
Work Set
365 x 2 x 5 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ux6Of4sn1J4
315 x 10
I didnt want to kill myself today. My flexibility sucks right now. Do me a favor and tell me if my depth is too high. You cant see the weight but this was my 2nd set on 365. I tried to leg press. That was a no no. I put on 400 just to warm up and that hurt like heck. I just went home. I still can bend over so maybe I just need to stretch out more.

Stretching is always good. I don't feel I should try and give a depth analysis cause I weigh 180lbs. but in your deadlift video, that music sucks to lfit to imo.
I can't wait for you to get better, so you can put up even bigger numbers than you do already. Just take your time getting back into things.

LOL, youre right. that music was horrible. One of the trainers that works there puts in on the mix on xm radio (we got some old biddy's that workout there). The late afternoons it gets switched to the boneyard.

I'm glad I found your journal bro, it looks like we're about the same strength. This year should be exciting as there are a lot of dudes on here right at my size/strength and we can all push each other. Good stuff.
Your squat depth looks solid too.

Light Upper
I hate 5:45 am workouts
Seated Military
195 x 3
195 x 3
200 x 3
155 x 10
Chest Supported T-Bar Rows (Wide Pronated Grip)
90 x 12
105 x 12
115 x 12
Close Grip Bench (2 Boards)
185 x 15
205 x 12
225 x 10
Chins (BW 231)
BW x 11
BW x 9
BW x 7
DB Kickbacks
30 x 10
35 x 10
40 x 10
Preacher Curls
75 x 15
85 x 15
I'm deloading military and I did t-bar to take the stress off of my lower back. The bad news is I wasnt sure what weight to use so I went lighter than I needed to.

Great workouts to the start of the new year and new journal. Overall, your numbers are impressive. We also train with the same upper/lower-heavy-light format; I'll be watching man.
How are you doing your bench presses? (touch n' go, pause...etc)
Strong BB rows, too. Soon enough, you will be repping 3 plates.
What's causing the discomfort in your hip and lower back?
By the way, your depth on Squats looked really good.
Damn strong squats too dude.
