Talking Cardio Vs. Lifting

in my opinion u should do both cardio and lifting. cardio keeps blood flowing and joints from breaking making it easier and safer to lift. so that is why i wake in the morning every morning at 6:20. i do ten minutes of strech and alternate between running and cardiovascular exercise. then in he afternoon i work on four body parts then i rest.

Thanks for the info.

In all seriousness, yes, do both.

excuse my ignorance but the sentence "alternate between running and cardiovascular exercise." does not compute.

I like the term strength & conditioning. This is what I like to use for my conditioning workout: http://forum1.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=894271
For strength, I follow an upper/lower body program.

I have the same problem.. I try to do cardio after..

Or do cardio in the morning. I can't do cardio first, or I just get too weak.

As a personal trainer when it comes to doing cardio before or after your workout it depends. If you want to focus more of your energy towards lifting then do it after.if you want to tone where you want to focus on cardio do it first.remember to do 5-10 minutes prior to stretching before you lift as well.helps get the blood and muscles warmed up.

if i want to tone where i want to focus on cardio do it first? what is that supposed to mean exactly?

anyways i run 20 miles on saturdays and 10 on thursday, doesnt interfere with my lifting whatsoever.

yeh, do cardio, it creates the framework to build muscle on, cardio strengthens your circulation, oxygen levels, etc.

and cardio is just plain healthy.. u gotta do it, even if you gotta add a bit more calories to compensate for the cardio.
