Ok, I know this is an open ended question but what is too much body fat gain during a bulk. I went from 16% to a little over 18% now in 3 months, my bench has went up by almost 60 pounds and my waist has increased by at the minimum of 5 inches. I am natural nothing besides genetics, I am completely confused with this hole body fat stuff”
wanted to use another word but want do that”, so besides bench increase my sizes all around have shot up is that good or bad and how much can I expect too loose during a cut. Wow so many questions, and I am not a beginner to exercise, just a beginner to eating right.

I'm kind of wondering about the bf measurements myself, it is one of those scales from Wally World, “walmart”, that shoots an electric pulse through your body and measures stuff. I am debating the accuracy, because I can shoot a 2 % difference from a Friday to a Monday. I think I need to switch to the pinchers maybe that will be a little more accurate.

Dude this is what has me baffled that I do not understand…below are my stats
Spt 06 185 at 16% bf
Nov 06 198 18% bf
Dec 205 19%
During September my waiste was at 32 inches, now I am at 37 the only thing I have changed is upped my carb intake, “because I was feeling extremely tired”, and protein along with the start of creatine again. Could the measurements of the waiste be fales and just bloating?Fat Man Typing

If you have the budget for it, I'd suggest looking into a hydrostatic bodyfat test. I too have one of those scales. It told me my bf was 16.9% (now 17.9% in the middle of a bulk). At the time that it said 16.9%, I went and got hydrostatic bodyfat testing and found that my bf is 8.5%! I'm truly disillusioned by those scales now. Hydrostatic bf testing is considered the golden standard, btw. BIA can be up to 20% off, calipers have a margin of error of 5-8%, and a hydrostatic margin of error is 2%.
Additionally, I remember reading somewhere about how the BIA tests work (the method your scale uses). From what I understand, you'll get different readings by using the bottom of your feet than if you were to get BIA testing done using your palms or other areas of your body. I've been hesistant to do a handstand to find this out though, since I'll probably break my neck!
Good luck!

Hydrostatic bodyfat test. See www.getdunked.com for an example. This is the company that performed the bf testing for "The Biggest Loser 2" show.

The scale that you got that works with the electrical impulse thats shot through you are not that accurate. They work becasue fat slows down the impulse and it reads how long it takes to get back, but its falwed because if your are over hydrated it will under estimate your body fat percentage and if you are under hydrated it will over estimated your bodyfat percentage so I would use the calipers over the electrical impulse.
