I'm 6'3 hovering around 220 for the last few months now. (been lifting 2 years)
I've been wanting to get down to 205 or so for awhile but I basically just bounce between 213-220 for the last couple months
Ive been mostly lifting however, with only 1 or 2 cardio sessions a week
The last week Ive been doing my normal lifts, followed by cardio every day. Usually 10mins on the elliptical and 20 mins on the treadmill putting in about 2 miles of running in those 20 mins.
To cut down to the low 2's is it beneficial to do hard cardio, or should i follow that bull**** fat burn stuff on the machines and just jog lightly etc. Cuz lately ive been going balls out and sweating up a storm.
Is it feasible to lose 15 pounds of fat by mid march with lift/cardio 5 times a week along with a decent diet? Drinking is an issue, but im a college student in my last year and dont want to give it up.
Im gonna try to hit up that becks premeir lights more with the 65 calories per beer.

the cardio alone is not going to do a thing for u losing fat, your diet will dictate that, cardio burns some calories... your diet controls the lot tho, u can do cardio and burn say 200-300 calories, or u can clean your diet and consistently drop 500calories off each day.
Id only heavy if its shorter as after weights i think its important to rest and get your nutrients (protein) i did hiit after all my weights session when i was cutting only for 15minutes including the warmup and cooldown and lost 80lbsMy journal http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=5662511

I don't know from personal experience but my gut tells me this:
- If you're going to do intense cardio after lifting, make sure your pre workout and post workout nutrition is solid. Hell, maybe even down something in the middle of your workout.
- I think you'd be better off spacing your workouts apart. Doing lifting in the evenings and cardio in the mornings (or whatever works best for you, personally I do lifting in the mornings and cardio on off days and at night)
Edit: I noticed your pics and you're probably at the point now where you're going to have to decide whether you want to gain or lose mass, but wouldn't be able to pull off both. Diet and the # of cals you intake daily will have a big impact here. (whoops, nm, I just noticed that it was MrSins pic, not yours)Last edited by Johnny USA; 12-28-2006 at 05:14 PM.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

I have been there. I was recently 235 (I am 6'3"). I am now 205. I was always lifting but really avoided cardio and didn't concentrate on my diet. I did a few simple things and the weight/fat came off. I began jumping rope, sounds wierd but I got better results than waisting away on an treadmill or eliptical. When I started I could barley go for a minute but I eventually worked my way up to a good ten minutes with only a few breaks. Also I quit eating a poor breakfast (Fast food, etc...) and started drinking a Myoplex deluxe. Finally I quit eating late at night (after 8pm). Good luck.

That's one of the dumbest things I've ever read on this site. Cardio in conjunction with weights and a sound diet will only benefit the person looking to shed unwanted bodyfat. The chances of cardio putting someone into such a caloric defecit that they'll fall into starvation mode is about as likely as Ronnie Coleman guest hosting masterpiece theatre.
As to the op and the issue of drinking. Look, I'm not going to tell you to give it up but definately cut back (say like one day a month or every other workout). You need to get your priorities straight and decide what is really more important. Losing weight or a few hours of drunkenn bliss.
