MM's refocus for more Muscle!
Today is the day after Christmas. Meaning, the year is almost over. Where has it gone?
I am starting a new journal. (here is the link to my other one http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=731717 ) I have gotten off track a bit and feel that I just need to jump start things by cleaning the slate and starting over. My Christmas present to ME I feel that I have lost too much muscle and become a bit slack about keeping my diet as tight as I want it to be to. (ie: being sick, running around like crazy, etc...) Which is OK...but not if I am planning on getting back on the stage.
With the craziness in my life since moving in June, I feel that I haven't been truly focused on my goals of getting back on the stage. Now I am ready. Not because it is a new year, but I know that some of the madness in my life is over (for now ).
I was looking to compete in March, but don't think I will be where I want to be. So, I am going to compete in April and hope that the added month will make a difference. The comp in April is not natural, so I am looking to find another one after that to do. It will have been a year since I last competed in April, so It will be a good re-introduction.
I am about 17 weeks out from peak week now and going to get down and dirty with diet and training.
I am going back to the BI plan with the hopes of putting on some nice LBM in the very near future. I am still pretty lean, so not so concerned with that.
So, for now my meal plan will be 6 meals...
The first 2 will have my starchy carbs
The other 4 will just be fibrous with loads of protein.
Macros for the day are approx : 2000 cals with supps...broken into 50/20/30 ratio. (P/C/F)
The only supps I am taking are X-Tend, EFA's, multi-vits, Ultra 40, Mass and protein powder (when needed). (oh and my joint supps too!) No creatine or NO currently.
This plan is a bit "different" than the standard, but it has worked for me in the past.
My current wo is a Vince Gironda plan. I am finishing week 5 and starting week 6 of the 6 x 8 (or 8x6). 8 sets with 6 reps and 20 sec rest in b/t. It has been challenging but really good! I have a little less than 5 more weeks to go.
Feeling motivated to get my goals back on track and see some good growing!

oooo I am the first to reply.....sounds great Trish....it's funny because I haven't gone off track really, and the last few days I did slightly and got down on myself....But I also felt like it was a clean slate this morning...I think the diet sounds great as does the routine...I'd like to tweak my routine again, as it's been a few months.....
Do you only get your fats from your EFAs or do you eat PB, almonds, oil, etc?

Hi Adrienne- Thanks for stopping by the new journal! Yep, you are the first one
It feels good to have a "clean slate". I haven't eaten anything "bad", just haven't given my diet the attention that it deserves. Feel and notice a difference! Also just want to get the mind and body competition ready
I take EFA's, but also eat nuts and nut butter(PB, almonds, flax, walnuts) and oil (olive mostly). I also get the fats from my foods.
I am sure you will do great getting back on track. A couple of days is not a big deal and you have are so dedicated and focused that you will be right back in there! Don't be too hard on yourself! Keep that chin up ...and see You've already started!
I feel like I haven't been truly focused since premove...and that is WAY to long!!!

Tricia!
This is so good to know about you....I am happy you are 'starting over' for contest prep.
It is all too easy for people to slip into the holiday stride of too much 'relaxation' and 'give up' on training and sticking with w/os.
WhooHoo!...Contest mind-frame! I am so excited for you.
This will be fun sharing this time of prepping, dieting, w/os, focus...ect. with you.
I do have a question...you mentioned your diet, will it be any different other than just being a little more stricked?
Also I am so happy for you that you are now in a place where you feel settled, comfortable, and mind-set for BBing!!
Good Luck To You Tricia...I support you 110%!!

Thanks everyone for continuing to follow my new adventure!
As most of you know, I have a hate relationship with the scale as I feel that too much emphasis is put on it, however, I did weigh myself this AM at the gym. Only as a "starting" point. I am not going to put too much "weight" (no pun intended) on the # b/c it is a different scale and this is a new beginning. So, the big # is 110. Good/Bad? Don't know, don't care. I am smaller than I have been (judging by clothes, but it is all good).
I am going to take some measurements tomorrow AM. I want the time of day on these to be consistent in order to judge true progress. Will weigh and measure again in 4 weeks.
Tara- Needed a mental cleansing. I bet your new journal will be great and I will be sure to be following!
Pam- Yeah, since the move, I just haven't been in the mental state that I want to be in. Too many "tomorrow I will get back into it" s. Thanks for having faith in me come April!
Joan- I haven't given up or eased off, just not focused. Need to reel things back in and get that goal back in the front of my mind. Too many other things have taken precedence (which can't always be helped), but I need to get serious again.
I am happy to share with you and thank you for your support!
As for the diet. I haven't been lax as far as quality...just quantity and missing a meal or two has not been a concern. Not good. My meal structure hasn't been great either. Just need to be more focused and more consistent on getting those cals and nutrients in. I have always been a "lazy" eater. Not b/c I overeat, but am really bad about not eating enough if I don't focus on it. Don't avoid it, just "forget". With not feeling well lately, this has gotten bad.
No food = no muscle =
Latoynia- A journey together...FUN! Thanks for sharing mine!
KBQ- Glad you are following along!
Holiday was nice! I hope yours was as well!
Emma-Leigh- Thanks and glad that you are reading along! I have a lot of respect for your knowledge, insight, opinion and information. Any that you want to share here would be just terrific
Julia- It would be fun to have you there...and I see a road trip in my July future (btw...it is in Anaheim...I think)
So, again, thank you all for following! Starting over feels fabulous!
Had a burning wo this AM! Yeah!!

That is a fantastic workout. I think I might be sore just from reading it!
Is your Beverly Diet the typical "bulk" diet that they use? I would be interested in seeing if your is any different than mine. I'm planning on starting the Bev Bulk January 2nd. And I'm competing in April, too So I guess I'll be following along in your footsteps the next few months. Hope you don't mind my shadow.

Simpy- Hey, we get to shadow one another (if you don't mind ! My diet is the typical bev diet. I will have to post mine....It would be fun to share notes (again, if you don't mind). I am going to be keeping one refeed meal a week being already lean this far out. What is the date of your comp? Mine is the 28th (oooh, I said mine That brought goosebumps)
KBQ- Feel them already!
Joan- LOL...waiting for that ?. I do plan on posting some pics. Want to track the progress in photos as well.
I have to admit too that I had been wondering where I was going with my lifting. I hear the goal of competing calling me again and am feeling ready. Looking back, I think doing 3 back to back was just too much for me. Then the move, etc... Chalking it up to overload (I can do that, right? )
I should take more time to put on some more muscle, but want a good starting point to go from. I can only go up, right?
Pics are coming....

Hi MM!
So excited to see your journey to a competition! I am sure you will come in super tight and look awesome! Your pictures are amazing right now! I haven't decided if I am gonna do a comp this year, so maybe you will help me get off my a%& and do it!
I completely understand the refocusing thing. The holidays are busy and tough! It is always good to set new goals, or reevaluate old ones. Kinda fun really, to challenge yourself with a new goal.
Can't wait to see your progress! You rock!
Smiles,
Skyden

"My name is Emma and I'm a Lurker"
Good luck with your goals and with doing all of the juggling of priorities that a busy mom like you needs to do!
I made your muscle muffins (posted in Julia's journal) and they were delicious. I didn't follow directions (oh, Emma!) though and overmixed them so I got the separate layers of egg + oats. Used oat bran instead of oats, too. BUT...They are yummy and the recipe's a keeper. Thanks!
At one point you mentioned using shirataki noodles. I'd been eyeing tham @ the market for several months and just bought a pack. Any preparation tips/recipes to share?

Happy Thursday Happy DOMS
...pics coming soon... Thanks all for joining me!
DB- I will keep my eyes open for you Glad you decided to come out of hiding!
Did you finish off that Turkey yet?
The boys do keep me on the go. Never a dull moment around here!
Joan- I am going back to the Bev plan. Had great results with it last time and I prefer (and feel better ) less carbs. Put on 5 lbs of muscle in a month last time, so we will see how it goes. I may try TP again after the comp.
Emmie- Glad you came out of hiding too
Thanks for the luck...I can use it!
Glad you like the muffins...I have many more recipes up my sleeve
Advice for shirataki... rinse them b4 using them. They stink something AWFULwhen you open the package, but after some good cleansing, they are good. I use them in soup, stirfry, salads, with sauce, etc... The possibilities are endless. I usually just heat them under hot water or just eat them cold.
Took the boys to see Night at the Museum yesterday. It was terrific! (then we braved Costco )
Did am cardio and now it is off for my leg wo!

Charity- Thanks
Legs today...ahhh...need I say more I am totally stoked (yes, I am a product of the 80's). Felt great and really pushed My legs were shaking noticeably by the end of this wo!
Leg Press
430 x 6,6,6,6,6
440 x 8,6,7 (PB)
Leg Ext.
180 x 6,6
185 (YES!!! PB) x 6,6,6,6
189 x 6,6
Leg Curl
125 x 6 (PB)
120 x 6
115 x 6,6,6
105 x 6
100 x 6,6
Bulgarian Squats (supersetted legs)
100 x 6,6,6
120 x 6,6,6
100 x 6,6
Calves on "thighsolator". (Easier on back)
150 x 15,15,15,15
This concludes the density intensifcation phase...Sat will start the Density Peaking. I am not sure how I feel about this next phase. It is 1 exercise per bp. 12 sets x 4 reps. 15...yes, 15 sec of rest and should be completed in less than 30 min. ( I think Vince Gironda is trying to kill me)
This will be a totally different type of wo for me. Should be interesting and furious! Hope I can keep track of those sets (and not loose my mind )
The boys and I are off to meet hubby for a rare meeting during the day and grab some tea and hot chocolate
Tomorrow is a rest day...if it is nice, we may hit Legoland (yet again) or one of the zoos. *crossing fingers* for nice weather!

15 second rests? Sounds more like cardio. You should enjoy getting done so fast. I know I would.
Hope you had fun today. Can those kids keep up with you? Grin
