Uhh kinda depressed..would like some encouragement

Ayyyy im 15 yrs old and right now im about 170-175.Just the other day i was almost at 165 and ****ed that up by eating the wrong crap.Anyway i used to weight 205 and i lost it.Really it was a big blurr and happend really quickly.Kinda just skipped meals till dinner and then later that night id run till i couldent breathe when i was done. But i dont remember eating "good" foods i just remember eating less. Also no sodas i drank crazy amounts of water.....all day from a milk carton. Is it because im young that i can get away with eating some not so good food ?What im getting at is im trying to get down to 150 and its seeming impossible. These last pounds are killing me and idunno what to do.The running that i once did isint doing anything for me and its really gotten me down and i gave up for a bit and now im even farther in the hole.To add to all this im a very insecure person.Im always paranoid about my weight and my girlfriend leaving me cuz im fat or something even though she reminds me that she loves me know matter what.Im sure its annoying for me to question her about it but all this is adding up to great depression.I really just feel udgahsughsdgh !!!!....

i was in the same boat as you thinking that I had to do a crapload of working out to lose weight and I overtrained and plateaud and constantly had no energy and was really down. Now I'm doing carb cycling and do 3 days a week of weights with 30 minutes of low intensity cardio right after weights and 2 days of moderate intensity cardio on days i'm not doing weights. I always have energy now and don't feel down. Keep this in mind...if your strength isn't increasing just a little while you're cutting and you never have any energy then you're doing something wrong and need to re-evaluate things. Diet is also 80%-90% of it so make sure your diet is in check so you'll see faster and better results. You're 15 so your metabolism is extremely high probably so just find your bmr and eat 200-300 calories below that with healthy foods. Make sure you have a PWO meal with a 2:1 ratio of carbs to protein (at least 80-90g of carbs in your case) too or you won't have energy for your next workout. Also weight training is 3 times more effective at losing fat than low or moderate intensity cardio (HIIT is a diff story because that's more anaerobic and raises your metabolism like weight training does for the rest of the day). Also do weight training to preserve muscle while cutting because you need muscle to help you burn calories while cutting! And also you can't gain fat in one day that's just water weight. Think how long it takes to lose fat...it takes awhile to gain fat also depending on how you go about it. Hope this helps!

First thing, it's more important that you are eating the right foods then trying to starve yourself to lose weight. I commend you on having the drive to run yourself hard on the cardio too. You are going about this the wrong way though.

Read boyscouT's Guide v2 to start yourself off. Figure out a diet that you can live with that will also give you the nutritional value you need. As for the cardio, to burn fat you need to keep it at a speed a bit less then where you are having trouble keeping your breath. You need to be getting oxygen to burn fat, they way you are running is good for strengthening your heart and endurance but not as much for the fat burning.

Don't worry little brother, you're not in a bad place. Just typical teenage insecurities. I had them too. Try not to get down on what you haven't accomplished yet and be proud of what you have. I mean 35 pounds is some serious weight! Good job on that! And even if you did gain five back, I promise you that given the time frame you're talking about, most of that is water weight which was most likely stored due to an increase in sodium intake.

Are you lifting now? If not, I'd highly recommend it. Lifting boosts the testosterone production in the body and will help fire up your metabolism to get you past this plateau and help you reach your goals. Just remember, proper form is more important than heavy poundages. Let the guys who think they know what they're doing lift to show off. You lift to make real progress.

As for the emotional aspect, even if at some point your girlfriend does break up with you, it's probably one of the best worst things that can happen to a man. Having your heart broken builds character and prepares you to have a mature relationship later on. I know that's not the most encouraging thing to hear, but it all comes down to this my friend....women are not the measure of a man. Any man who uses a woman to validate himself, regardless of what else he has going for him is insecure. Instead, learn to be truly secure in who YOU are. Then you won't need to take the question of your masculinity to a woman and you'll not only be able to appreciate them for who they are as people rather than objects, but you'll be prepared to have truly great relationships later on.

You're doing great man. Keep working hard!
