Don't worry little brother, you're not in a bad place. Just typical teenage insecurities. I had them too. Try not to get down on what you haven't accomplished yet and be proud of what you have. I mean 35 pounds is some serious weight! Good job on that! And even if you did gain five back, I promise you that given the time frame you're talking about, most of that is water weight which was most likely stored due to an increase in sodium intake.
Are you lifting now? If not, I'd highly recommend it. Lifting boosts the testosterone production in the body and will help fire up your metabolism to get you past this plateau and help you reach your goals. Just remember, proper form is more important than heavy poundages. Let the guys who think they know what they're doing lift to show off. You lift to make real progress.
As for the emotional aspect, even if at some point your girlfriend does break up with you, it's probably one of the best worst things that can happen to a man. Having your heart broken builds character and prepares you to have a mature relationship later on. I know that's not the most encouraging thing to hear, but it all comes down to this my friend....women are not the measure of a man. Any man who uses a woman to validate himself, regardless of what else he has going for him is insecure. Instead, learn to be truly secure in who YOU are. Then you won't need to take the question of your masculinity to a woman and you'll not only be able to appreciate them for who they are as people rather than objects, but you'll be prepared to have truly great relationships later on.
You're doing great man. Keep working hard!
