being an englishman, i will give you an honest answer.
i have never ever once in my life met someone who drinks cold tea, every single person i know and talk to drinks hot tea, if i met someone who drank ice tea, id think they were up themselves, and they would probably be beaten and bannished from england.

There are thousands of varieties of teas. BORING! is hardly the appropriate term when it comes to tea

I drink a cup of tea about once every month. I think many outsiders get the impression we are constantly chugging it down. Most people i know prefer coffee anyway.

Yep, it was also the favorite drink in the states until the Brits got greedy and increased the tax on it. And we all know how that turned out. Coffee any one?

no offense but lots of Americans just don't know who to make proper tea. The tea I got on varuious American aeroplanes tasted exactly as you described it.
you're supposed to put the bag in the cup or teapot, pour water over it and then let it brew for about 30 seconds. THEN you can drink it. Add milk and/or sugar if you prefer. (But if you use a teapot you pour the milk into the cup first)
I've had iced tea before but I haven't come across any decent stuff.

exactly!
Have youi ever watched a British soap opera:
If there's a carcrash, you make a cup of tea afterwards
If someone's in shock or trauma, you make them [hot and sweet] tea.
when people visit, you offer them tea.
First drink in the morning: tea
most common drink throughout the day: tea
getting the point?
But seriously, if there's a big TV program/film/documnetatry or football game, The national grid gets a huge power surge because of all the kettles that are switched on straight afterwards

Tea is the most drunk drink in the world. On average every person in the UK drinks 4 cups of tea a day, thats 240 million cups of tea a day.
There are FFFAAARRR more variaties of tea than there are coffee. Its just not very fashionable right now, but im sure it will come back into fashion in the future like it was in the past.
Plus tea has 1/3rd of the caffeine that coffee does and tea is packed with anti-oxidants.

Absolutely, we get the point. We're still next of kin when it comes to tea. Although, as someone alread stated, we're just as parshall to the iced variety as we are to hot tea. Go to any restaurant anywhere and you'll find tea. If you go to someone's home (especially in the south) you'll get offered tea...albeit iced. In addition, you'll find it in just about any American home. It's still very common, and in many cases expected. The best thing about tea is, unlike coffee, you can drink it anytime of the day. I've got 3 varieties in my cupboard right now!
