What do you think about Thai food?
I was thinking about trying Thai food for the first time at some local thai restaurant. Maybe not today..but probably tomorrow for dinner.
Is it good for bulking? Also, if theres any thai members on this board..what do you suggest for a first timer? I've heard that people enjoy the Green Curry? But what else is there?
edit: I also want to try Tom Yum Noodle Soup.
I might plan traveling to Thailand next year....to train some Muay thai, and learn a lot about the Thai Culture.

its delicious, thai food is a combination of four elements, spicy, sweet, crunchy, i forget fourth. But thai food is one of my favorite types, very spicy lots of fresh vegetables, lots of protein in most dishes. Just if youre watching diet steer clear of things with heavy sauces as they are oil based and sometimes coconut milk based which is verrry calorie dense.
some of my fav thai dishes, spring rolls, curries, i dont even remember names, I need to eat thai soon again.

Thai food is delicious!!! Wonderful balance of flavours: salty, sweet, spicy. The only things to watch out for are the grease in stir fries and a lot of the coconut milk based curries. But i guess if you're not caring about calories or fat, then just order whatever appeals to you, it's bound to taste good.

Just order something with meat in it.
I'm pretty sure most asian dishes come with more vegetables, noodles, rice, than meat, which can make you a little low on protein for that meal...but considering you're eating out, you should be fine, as portions are quite huge.

mmm thai food. whenever i think about it, i think about how nice and spicy it is. a lot of their soups are broth based (i believe) and have lean meats and seafood. plus, the spicy-ness of the food (chili peppers) helps boost metabolism.
here's a little research:
Quote:
Hidden Dangers:
* Pad Thai noodles are stir-fried with a lot of oil, and often include eggs and peanuts.
* Nam Prik (spicy peanut sauce) and Sao Nam (coconut sauce) are very high in fat.
* Nam Pla and soy sauce are both high in sodium.
* Watch out for peanuts, cashews, coconut, and any nut oils or sauces, which can be high in fat.
* Avoid deep fried noodles and entrees.
* Say ?no? to the heavy sauces.
* Avoid anything with full-fat coconut milk.
* Tom Ka Gai (chicken in coconut milk soup)
* Gaeng Keow Wan Gai (curry chicken with eggplant)
* Gaeng Ped Gai (red curry chicken)
* Gluay Kaeg (fried banana slices)

Healthy Finds:
* You can often find a sweet, fat-free chili sauce.
* Try sauces that are made with basil, chilies and lime juice.
* Ask for more veggies and less meat or nuts in a dish.
* Make sure meat is saut?ed, stir fried (with vegetable oil) or grilled.
* Thai Chicken (saut?ed chicken with lots of vegetables and pineapple)
* Poy Sian (saut?ed seafood with cabbage, beans, and mushrooms)
* Gai Yang (grilled chicken on cabbage and rice)
* Tom Yam Goong (hot and sour shrimp soup)
* Nuea Pad Prik (pepper steak)
* Khao Newo Kaew (sweet sticky rice)
