maybe true, maybe not - either way the stations may not merge, however, your over all reception will improve. (more sats = better coverage)
I own a sirius s50. I enjoy it and use it to record shows and music then take it to the gym. A little bigger than an ipod, but no need to have two mp3 players and two fm receivers to play it in my truck. A friend owns an XM, but the reception seems to break in certain areas.
Buy someplace you can return if your not satisfied, then try both for a month.
Keep the one you like best.
Peace, and good luck.

Sirius, strictly for Maxim.
Check out Maxim, station 108. Covino and Rich is a damn good show, 3pm-6pm Eastern time.
Playboy is just okay. Good/entertaining talk shows, but the f*cking erotic stories and sh*t just annoy me.
Other than the entertainment/talk channels, XM and Sirius have pretty much the same selection. I.E. both have top 40, acoustic, country, 70's, 80's, 90's, alt, rock, metal, R&B, rap, stations etc. etc.
You can listen online for free. I think the trial is 3 days for each.

The sound quality of sattelite radio is horrible. I had xm in my car ($3000 system) and had to cancel my subscription because i couldn't stand it. I had perfect reception, it's just low quality.
