lost all respect for victor martinez
victor is guest posing in pensacola fl in aweek or two. he just contacted my gym owner and said he needed a place to workout before he guest poses and that he would be glad to workout at our gym if they would give him 800 bucks.most people that aint members of the gym pay 5 bucks for a workout.as a pro i know he needs to workout so just show up and workout.why should he expect the gym to pay him 800 bucks just to get a workout in that he needs to get in anyway.mind you its 800 to just workout not to conduct a siminar or meet and greet.i was looking forward to see him guest pose but after that i could careless i would not walk accross the street to see him.as low as the fan base is for bodybuilding is that seems to be a stupid move on his part. most people in my gym would not know him if he come up to them and spit in their face.

Is this fact or rumour? If real, that's pretty sad, what a douche.

How long before somebody posts the following:
Victor Martinez
Pensacola, FL
$800
It obvious - he needs more gear.
I bet someone will post that soon. I would not but I bet someone will. Let's see....

If this is true, then I myself would have lost all respect for Victor. He seemed so genuine as well...
I think the true beauty of bodybuilding was that we all had so much damn respect for the hard work each and every one of us puts in to achieve where we are at, at any given stage. Greed was never a factor, striving to be the best was our destiny. When you see a sport that is filled with such genuine and hard working characters as the top pro's - Jay, etc - it's horrible and hurts to see it taking some modern day society, commercial approach to things..

Message to gym owner - If you don't want to shell out $800 for the privilege of having a top pro bodybuilder work out at your gym, DON'T PAY HIM THE F'CKING MONEY!
It's as simple as that. Just because he asked doesn't mean you have to pay it.

What a bunch of tools. Why the f*ck do you care? If he can sucker the gym owner's out of 800 bucks, then good for him. The gym owner's would be happy for some publicity from the #1 bodybuilder in the world right now.
I bet your jackoff buddy Jay Cootler has done this many times in the past.

Yeah but he also has to pay for food, possibly plane ticket, rent, car insurance, he may or may not have a kid, I dunno. It's gay to ask for 800 bucks just to appear in a gym, but he's trying to be resourceful I guess.

i think you missed the point of the thread. whether the gym owner pays or doenst pay is irrelevant, the fact is martinez is asking a ridiculous amount of money for something that he needs. in order to make it even remotely worthwhile for the owner, he would have to attract a certain amount of people to watch martinez in order to make a profit, which at 5$ a head would be 160 people which i really doubt could even fit in the gym let alone huddle around and watch him work out.

If he was just a regular joe lifter like yourself, would this even be an issue?
Vic has bills to pay like everybody else. Guest posing is his hustle. Don't fault the man for trying to earn a living.

Funny how you people care if a bodybuilder asks for money to workout in a gym, but don't give a rats ass about the illegal steroid use. Not that I give a damn, the more gear the better, but you dickweeds picking what is morally okay to do is pretty ironic... and retarded.

That's what he needs to explain to Vic Martinez. He should look at the 800 dollar request as the starting point of the negotiations. If he has some business savvy, maybe he can convince Vic to take a lot less.

their probably aint that many people in all the gyms in my area 3 in total that would now him.if he did a meet and greet and a siminar i would agree he needs to be paid but just to come in and workout he would owe 5 bucks like anyone of you guys if you was to come in and want to workout.

I think the gym owner should counter with an offer for Vic to pay $800 for the privilege of working out there and then maybe later they can meet in the middle somewhere...

Even though it is tough sometimes, I wish we could at least confirm this truth before smacking Vic to the ground.
Although I am skeptical by nature and can see winning the recent Arnold as a cocky title and seeming more important and having some power. But at the same time, some of the pros need to understand the consequences of their actions if greed enters the picture.
I know Cutler has PLENTY of cash coming in from various sources, contracts, appearances, and even many business adventures not related to bbing. But I would have a hard time believing him or Ronnie would ever do this.
Hopefully it isn't true and can't be confirmed, or Vic will slowly being going down the Gastavo Baddell slide in popularity through arrogance.

I'll have to defend Victor on this one. Afterall PROFESSIONALS are not free. They got this high level in order to make money and if does this for free, he would be definitely taken advantage of. He's in business and people like the gym owner should respect that it is business. If the owner of the gym pays the $800, he then should advertise that in limited attendance, meet the winner of 2006 Arnold Classic in person, for a $20 entrance fee. The owner and Victor should get together and make out a plan on how this event should work. Some autograph signing and question and answers. Victor could do this for 2 hours. It can be a win win situation for both parties, all they need is some smart planning and marketing. Bottomline, Victor is in business and I totally support what he is doing. If Ronnie Coleman were too make a guest appearance in a gym do you think he would do it for free? I guess not, I bet he would ask for a minimum of $2000. And the gym can still make money by charging an entrance fee and to meet 8 time Mr Olympia. I know more than a 100 people would see Ronnie and they will shell out $20 to get in. Of course, there has to be an autograph session along with photo ops. The gym owner and Victor can do the same. There are people out their that shell out $20 to get an autograph of a famous athlete. It is no different....it is business. Do I think its stupid....yes. But it is business.

thats ok i agree that for a siminar /meet and greet he should get paid.he contacted the gym owner and said he needed a place to workout and would be glad to come in and workout just workout if the man would pay 800 bucks.so if nobody in my area will pay him to do his daily workout i guess he will just skip his workout that day?i wonder what they pay him to workout at home? or does he workout at home for free?

That's pretty damn sad.
I understand him needing to make money.
I understand he has alot of **** to pay for.
What I don't understand, is why he's trying to charge $800, just show he can show up, and work out.
That's a load of ****.
If I were in his shoes, and on my own free time, I'd stop by the smaller gyms, the less known, show my face, meet and greet, sign some ****, and help others workout for free... why charge?
Your a regular person, and you were no different before, until someone sponsored you.
What a ****ing cocksucker.
