What % of body weight do you lift when doing a push up?

Say I weigh 150lbs, obviously I'm not lifting 150 lbs when doing a push up. What % would you say you actually lift when doing a push up, 60%? So with that said, if that's true, I should certainly be able to bench 90lbs?

77% percent...not a made up number actually read that
I bodybuild, I don't powerlift, as far as how much I can lift goes it doesn't matter to me, it's how much I grow.

you can also weigh yourself on a scale...then go in push up position with hands on the scale...then do a simple calculated to get percentage...and there you go

Cool, I never thought about using a scale, I guess that'd be accurate enough.

I hope this will at least give me an idea of how much weight to use when i start benching

Dips > pushups in every way.

Dips = 100% of your BW and then whatever weight you add.

i use around 70kgs now, that i weigh 97. so yea a bit more than 70%, also used scale to figure out but benching and pushups are different... i can easily do around 20 push ups in a row if i am determined enough, yet i can only bench 70 once if i try my best. its a good indicator if you minus around 20kgs from your push up id say, and bench with that 3x10, or whatever set arrangement you follow.
