Think I'm starting a site that instead of sells a product I will just promote stuff on my site. Can't find any good products that direct to my site so I'm thinking of promoting different sites and ads. I.e Affliction clothing etc

Does it look like this guy makes money from affiliated marketing? I know the web site he's promoting in his video is probably a scam, but he must be making money somehow.

I'll break this down for you:
There is a very popular offer going around called "Google Cash Kit" or "Google Startup"..it is a bizz opp that pays $24-$35 per sale. These products are not affiliated with Google AT ALL, and google is starting to ban people who promote it using their Adwords network. What these companies do is get you to signup with a credit card to pay like $1.00 for a startup kit then the next month they bill you $80..and so on..and it is very hard to cancel your offer. Anyway, the guy in the video was probably hired by an affiliate marketer to pretend hes all baller, to target the young black crowd on worldstarhiphop.com.
This is affiliate marketing in a nutshell. It is an excellent landing page and it probably works for him.

for the most part, the guys at WF are helpful, but they can be really cocky and full of themselves (esp. if they're the high-rollers) and be really ****ing ****ty towards noobs.
that and the dickrolling can get annoying. but overall, lots of good info there.
never really looked into warriorforum. i signed up and looked around but never stuck around.

Alright.
So to get this correct from a newbie stand point, a form of AM or AM is basically...(in a nutshell)
You make a web site about an EXISTING product that some store sells. You try to sell that product hardcore and when they go to check out a program(?) routes them to the original product and you get a percentage of it?u mad

Affiliate Marketing is an Internet-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts. It is an application of crowdsourcing.
The Affiliate Marketing industry has four core players at its heart: the Merchant, the Network, the Publisher and the Consumer. The market has grown sufficiently in complexity to warrant a secondary tier of players, including Affiliate Management Agencies, Super-Affiliates and Specialized Third Parties vendors.
Affiliate marketing overlaps with other Internet marketing methods to some degree, because affiliates often use regular advertising methods. Those methods include organic search engine optimization, paid search engine marketing, e-mail marketing, and in some sense display advertising. On the other hand, affiliates sometimes use less orthodox techniques, such as publishing reviews of products or services offered by a partner.
Affiliate marketing?using one website to drive traffic to another?is a form of online marketing, which is frequently overlooked by advertisers.[citation needed] While search engines, e-mail, and website syndication capture much of the attention of online retailers, affiliate marketing carries a much lower profile. Still, affiliates continue to play a significant role in e-retailers' marketing strategies.[1]
I believe the OP from that other thread got some of the info from wiki so I just pasted it on here.

Yeah that is just one method of internet market. Another hot method is called CPA costs per action. You are still working with an affiliate manager but this time you dont necessarily have to sell a product to get paid. There are many ways of making money such as email submits, zip code submits, incentives, pay per sign ups. Alot of people like this method instead because it isnt really hard to get email submits if you have a decent landing page and decent traffic. Affiliate Marketing is the stepping stone though. If you are new to Internet Marketing best way to start is affiliate marketing.
