Hi Guys,
My gym does not have one of those donkey calf raise machines so I am going to need someone to help me with the exercise. The thing is I don't know anyone at the gym. My question is, how would i go about asking someone there to sit on my back while I do the movement?
I don't want to appear gay or anything. I was thinking I could wear a ring on my marriage finger to symbolize I'm not gay. I'm not married, but it would act as a safeguard. Or maybe I could ask a big body builder guy there to help me. He'll probably understand the importance of the exercise on the calves and maybe he's gay himself so he'll have no problem with it.
Anyone else had this problem before? My gym does have a regular calf exercise machine, but the standing position on that one does not match the intensity of the donkey calf raise.

Just ask someone. I doubt that they're going to think it's a "gay" thing so I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. If they come on to you after your workout, then that's something else, but I doubt that as well. Just ask nicely, and explain why if need be.

Most gym regulars are helpful; however, this is an unusual circumstance. It might be beneficial to use an alternative movement.
Most individuals will not sit on a stranger's back, regardless of the exercise.Bodybuilding is 60% training and 50% diet. Yes that adds up to 110%, because that's what you should be giving it. Change the inside, and the physique will follow.

Ask a girl...although there are plenty of other things I would try for calves before this.
Lift smart.
I rear ended a car this morning...the driver that got out of the other car was a dwarf !!
He looked up at me and said "I am NOT Happy!"
So I said, "Well, which one ARE you then?"
That's how the fight started.

Make sure of only one thing.
Make sure the person tyou ask is female."To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

Excellent thread; would read again!
